Help!! how to dechrome front grille!!

hi i want to dechrome my front grille to black, i was wondering could anyone tell me what materials they used to paint their front grille from chrome to black? and how to take the front grille off from your car? i was thinking about gettin the aero kit black grilles, but i read here that it takes a lot of work to install the lower grille, so i thought that it would be easier and cheaper to just paint my chrome grilles to black. sorrie for askin silly questions, i am a mini newbie Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I will also buy any other chrome exterior pieces, especially the rear trunk handle

Don't paint. You will have to deal with chips down the road. Either replace and sell the chrome grill or do like I did, use tape. I just blacked out my grille and it looks great. Took about a half of hour. I used Black Out Tape that I found at Pep Boys. It is 1 3/8" wide and sells for about $ 5.00. Enough to do the car twice +. I also got some Pro-Line tape it 3/8" and blacked out the belt line. It too makes a big change in the car's appearance.

Youre the person I'm looking for... I want to ditch the chrome rear piece and get *someones* body color piece and paint it black...
I did the other pieces when my car was getting painted...
I have a -
4 slot chrome Cooper Grill
Single Chrome lower slat
2 front Chrome Bumper kits
(in short - All the Black on the front I got in Chrome - NOT the Scoop)

Wellll... I painted mine with Krylon Semi-Flat Black. The factory EB paint on the bodywork chips easier. I used a new grille (they come in primer), sanded with 400 grit and then put on about six even, thin coats. Has not chipped yet.

Lowest grille strip - how to replace

Fascinating thread - can any of you tell me how hard/easy it is to replace that lowest grill strip - the one that is just below the top of the bumper? I oredered the chrome grill for my S, but that last slat is still body color...
If my searches don't come up with an answer, I'll create a new post for this speciic question.

Thanks, and hope your mods all turned out great!
