Inexpensive Door Panel Mod

The Slightly Unsightly Holes Have Disappeared.....

I came across these plastic plugs on Ebay. At $9.98, they do a good job of covering the holes left by the factory. Called "spiffy plugs", they can be found at:

http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...tem=8070574047

They come as black plastic but I painted them to better match the Antracite interior.

You can get black vinyl, rubber, and chrome ones at most hardware stores, Home Depot and Lowes. Look for them near the cabinet *****. They are called "hole plugs" and come in a variety of sizes. I got mine at OSH and used a 5/8" and a 11/16" since there are two different sized holes. You can usually get them for around $.50 each. On an '05, that's a whopping $2.00!!

I believe a fellow NAMer is the one that makes and sells these on ebay.

I got a set from the NAM member and they fitted in the upper holes just fine but the bottom holes were a pig. Got the passenger one in after much cursing but had to ream out the drivers side one to make it a little bigger. Must be variations in the injection molding process.

There was a thread about this before, which was follwed by several threatening PM's from the NAM member to the people who think its a scam..

Home Depot has them for 37 cents each in 6 colors.

Lowes has them in a White thats ready to paint for 25 cents.

I have never been able to find them in Home Depot. I wandered the aisles of 3 different HD. Crying out to anybody in Orange, "Do you have hole plugs?" Nothing, nada, zip. I gave up and am at peace with the "unsightly holes"...

Until yesterday when I bought an auto-x cushion from Wheelie and he threw in 4 chrome ones, so the moral is the way to get them is to spend $40 with another NAM member on another part...

For mine, I used 2 different sized plugs: 5/8" and a 11/16". Those worked perfectly.

I got mine at Lowe's for a total of $3.00. There are drawers in the misc. hardware section, one for nylon and one chrome. Home Depot only has white nylon caps.

I'm going to get the JCW ones.

They do look nice though. I may just have to drive to the big city to check them out.

On my 03 MCS it took four 11/16 and two 5/8 plugs. Lower rear plug was a little hard to get in but I just pushed and it went in. I bought mine at Lowes and paid $4.49 for three two packs. Looks like Home Depot was the place to go but I was passing Lowes and with the price of gas and H.D. being a half of block out of my way.....

HD, OSH, ACE, Lowes - don't think it really matters as the prices should be similar. The difference definitely isn't worth a gallon of gas!

I found them at Lowe's - they're in the sliding drawers where all the loose hardware and screws/fasteners are. They come in a bag (2 per) and I think they're called nylon hole plugs or something. I used black and even on my orange interior they look better than the holes.
