Interior/Exterior DIY Front Mud Flaps.

DIY Front Mud Flaps.
This is a project I have been working on for a while. I have some WIDE wheels and tires, and as a result, I was ending up with a lot of road-garbage stuck to my doors...
SO, I wanted to make some easy, simple mud flaps, and I thought (mistakenly) that the rears would be simpler. Well, I still don't have a good solution for the rears, but I completed my front mud flaps this afternoon, and i thought I would share some pics and descriptions.
The key to these mud flaps is that they are easy to remove via (3) 1/4-20 machine screws. These thread into three recepticles that I installed into the fender-well-liner.
The rivet-style attachments I am using are purchase from McMaster Carr:

They require this tool (which I already had from another project):

The mud flaps themselves are simplely made of rubber sheet that is cut to match:

Anyway, it was pretty fun to do, and they definitely keep the mud off my doors!

Went for the first real drive this afternoon, and I found out that I needed more than 1" of clearance between the ground and the bottom of the mud flap... I know, duh. In any case, I trimmed them so now there is 3" of clearance, and maybe now they won't rub on EVERY bump!
They do work nicely though, keeping all the road debris off the doors, and with all this rain, its good timing!
