Painting factory non aero rockers

I tried a search without result. Has anyone opted to have their factory rocker panels (no aero kit) painted along with the arches? I am toying with the idea of matching all the black trim pcs on the car with the body color. Any help, pics, or links would be greatly appreciated.

Would I really be the first? I highly doubt it. Someone out there has had this done before.

You will be far from the first or second. But it looks fantastic and I wish I could afford to do this. . .

I have the same color and want to do the same thing. I think all you do is sand the bumps smooth and then paint them with the normal materials used for flexable parts.

look for info on painting wheel arches I think I have seen a couple of people post under that subject.

My MINI is in the body shop right now, and asked for a quote to have all the black trim painted EB. They highly discouraged it. They said that it would only last for a little while. One chip, then water gets behind it, then its all toast.

I would love to do it, but the experts tell me not so much.

I got a quote today for $1249 for everything guaranteed. I trust this shop because they did the same to my other Mini:

This shop does all the aerokits for Rasmussen Mini, and has a lot of experience with the textured parts. I just wasn't sure about color matching the stock rockers instead of buying the aero parts. I think it looks good though.

I think the arches painted in gloss black would be hot

Then I say go for it. If/when it starts to chip, they do 'er again!

I had mine done, and it has a 5-year warranty. If it's done right, then it won't chip. A 5-year is the best warranty you can get on a paint job, because of acid rain. PM me if you have any questions! I'm not sure where you're located, but I would love to reccomend the same place.

Do it!

Good body shops will charge between $1,000 and $1,500. There's a lot of labor involved. You need to sand the texture off the pieces and then use the right primer before you paint and then clearcoat.

It can be pricey, but it looks great!
