Interior/Exterior New pedals
#1
Put new pedals on my MC. After looking at all the aftermarket pedals, I hadn't seen any that were better looking than the ones for the '03 MCS, so I ordered a set of clutch and brake pedals and 2 dead pedals. $80-something for all 4. Bad Ess on MINI2 introduced the idea of using another dead pedal instead of paying the full $100 or more for a whole new accelerator pedal assembly. Using a sharp wood chisel, I carved all the plastic ribbing, etc. off the back of the extra dead pedal, straightened it out, got some silicone glue, and clamped it over the existing accelerator pedal for a day. I didn't even hacksaw down the top of the old accelerator pedal, I just ran the top of the dead pedal close to even w it. A tiny bit of the bottom of the old accelerator can be seen, which might bother a more type A person but it doesn't stick out as the slightest bit offensive to my eye. Dresses up a footwell like nothing else Anyone else do this mod?

>>I also wont spend the money, but that sounds like a heck of a lot of work for a little something on the car that wont even be noticed while driving.
Yes, it's true, I did the Ess pedal mod and my feet can't tell a bit of difference. But every time I open the door to get in, day or night (lighted foot well), I enjoy the look. Plus, the pedals match the Whalen shift **** (brushed) perfectly. And the **** is an ever present part of the driving experience.

I installed the new pedals (brake and clutch only) and have found that the pieces haven't yet fallen off...whereas the only-rubber ones that came with my 02 MCS used to come off the clutch and brake all of the time. I think that the metal in the new ones helps them stay on better. If this is true, then it's not just cosmetic. The falling off rubber thing used to drive me crazy, and wasn't too safe either.

Sorry, don't pics of mine, but here is a past MCO link to look at. They make things sparkle in your footwell, and you can see them from almost any angle while looking into the car. In my view, they're the best looking pedals out there- absolutely no comparson to the old MC pedals. This is close to my favorite add-on I've done to the car.

Here's the Bad Ess way on the MINI2 forum, the way I did it, with the 2nd dead pedal in place of the $100 gas pedal:

I too put the S pedals on my new Cooper not just for appearance(they are very nice looking) but I found with the old rubber ones my foot would slip off the pedal when my shoes were wet. With the new ones that does not happen anymore. So it was well worth the money just for the safety feature!!
