04 Clock in an 06

I have a spare 04 clock that I want to put in the 06 where the passenger airbag and domelights are currently located.

I haven't pulled that piece off but from memory it seems that it's part of the trim that goes around the sunroof.

Has anybody else done this?

I know the 04 clock just kind of pops into place, held in by some clips that just prevent it from falling.

I'd need to wire it up to power, ground, and switched power I think...

I tried it in my 05 without success. It clipped into the opening left by the airbag/domelights perfectly, but when I hooked it up to power, it just lit up orange without any numbers! If you figure out how to do this, lemme know.

Hm - did you use a voltmeter to test the power? i.e. figure out which one is constant and which one is switched? Worse comes to worse I'm thinking one can just run a wire along the headliner down the a-pillar (as I did for my radar) and just use a "add-a-circuit" on one of the switched fuses in the kick panel.

From what I remember, i tried the wires pretty much every way i could. I went nuts trying to get that clock to work. I'm sure there's a way, but I just couldn't figure it out. It was definitely getting power, but the clock wouldn't display.

If you find out. Post it here. I would like to have my clock back up in the headliner.

Now, there are some wires going to the mirror even if you don't have the automatic dimming mirror. Could these possibly be used? I have a voltmeter but it may be a while before I can check which wire does what.

I'm interested in this as well. I want to put a better clock into my mom's mini. The OEM one is unreadable.
