Yeah the first link was for training shoes. Lol, It's lucky he didn't paste a link to one of those 'Special Iterest' sites!

With this type of grill....I am wondering how much less air is getting to the inter cooler due to the grate installation. I went to the local home store and found the exact material you used, but could not help wondering if the air flow restriction will have any effects on the performance of the intercooler? Have you noticed any differences in the running temp? Your mod looks great and certainly performs a function......but at what if any cost to the proper running of the engine?

There is no noticable difference in engine temp. I did a simple test by opening up two ends of a two soup cans, attaching nipples, and comparing the flow with my old motorcycle flow meters. You know the ones that measure the vaccum created by air passing through the venturi. Well the difference in flow was negliagble at low speed <10mph. Above it was the same. There just is not much constriction, especially if you tink about ramming this along at 30+mph where the SC is really compressing.

I agree that the IC is wimpy and very prone to soak. So I cannot think this mod has done anything but protect it from all the ******* road detritus! Man wait until you find half a sparkpug embedded in your IC! Where did it come from? Why can't I or the wife remember the THUNK that must have made?

Anyway I like the look and it's <15min to remove completely.

Cool. I think I might have to give this a try this weekend. Thanks!

I have a similar setup on my motorcycle's oil cooler. It is positioned centered behind the front wheel. So there is a tendency for all the road crap to fly up off the tire and into the oil cooler. I have had it installed for 3 years and it works great. It prevents most major damage. Although, it is succeptable to smaller debris. I am ok with this since the big rocks are what bend the fins.

Like I said before in a early post I have done this to my car and many others. We really enjoyed the look and with no performance problems. I did this to mine last August. I did a how-to on this but I cannot seem to be able to find it andI already got rid of the pictures. But it is real easy and the MCO sponsor MINICOOPERPARTS sells the complete kit pre-cut with instructions.

ROCK! Good job, it's nice to see someone use the howto. BTW what's with the 50% aero kit grille?

Nice stripes too.

After looking at the aero kit for some time, I agree with you on wanting the chrome instead of the black inserts (I have an MC). But I decided that I won't bother until I figure out how to get all of the sections in chrome (or possibly stainless/aluminum down low?).

FWIW, I think your current configuration looks unique, but kind of mismatched. Then again, I'm an all-or-nothing type, and would never be satisfied with just half.

Ahhhh, your wish is my commmand CooperSpeed. I got the same idea a couple of months ago while walking through the hardware store. I used "Frost King Plastic Mesh Gutter Guard". Its Black! Cut it with a pair of scissors and held it in place with high temp glue gun glue.

No, it won't melt as its made to sit in the sun forever and I haven't picked a leaf or stick out of the intercooler since the install. Looks good and matches.

Not as dense as the alum stuff, easier to work with.

Sorry, don't know how to put picks here and have no online storage.
