That's why I'm a big fan of the sleeper car. Looks slow, but goes fast

Unfortunatley Motor On, you are incorrect. The IL law changed on January 1st, 2006, making it illegal to have ANY plastic cover over your license plates. In fact, some plate frames are now illegal if they cover the sticker or too much of the plate.

What I don't understand is how the State Issued Ipass LPTs (Lisence Plate Tags) got approved as I have see those effictively make frint plates on many vehicles un liegible.

Ladies...I do get out in the winter time...when it's dry...
Amandabeo...thanks for your professional perspective...I am wondering how would you decide whether my plate cover or color is legal if I were to come into your sight? Does IL DMV codes supercede other state's codes when they come into your state?

Yes but you see there are 2 in the area and he lives about as far from both as possible while being in the area, however he lives right next to 6 flags. Unfortuneately both are also shorter 1.X miles tracks I prefer longer ones with more turns but thats just me.

Chances are you'll get away with it, but it is the chance you're taking. Just be warned!

Amandabeo,
Can you give a section of the Illinois law that makes all licence covers, even clear ones, illegal? I looked at the Illinois web site that MotorOn cited above and found the same reference he posted in that it specifically states the following:
I read that as meaning as long as I have a clear cover that it is legal. I can see where yellowed or foggy ones would be illegal as they would prevent reading the numbers, as well as any other type intentionally intended to obscure the numbers.
Not trying to be a pain, but just trying to under stand what is legal and what is not. Thanks!
