I need an opinion on some future mods

Quick question. How do you all think a chili red / white roof MCS would look with window tinting all-around + dark grey/anthracite wheels?

My car looks a bit too "cutesy" to me right now. Being a young guy, I want a more agressive look. The tinting is a given. I also LOVE dark grey wheels, but have not seen them on a CR MINI, esp w/ a white roof.

Anyone have any opinions, maybe pics?...good? bad?

Thanks in advance.

Hey Kyle... I got the same car with 20% tint all around. If you'd like, I can post a pic so you can see how it looks.

I like the tint, but I don't care for my current S-Lites (that weight something like 29 lbs each !). My only complaint is that I now need a brighter back up light.

Wheels are in my future, but I gotta sell my Jeep first.

I like those anthracite wheels Chows.

checkered roof, black bonnet stripes to start you off. should've gotten
a black roof if you want to make it sporty looking imho. but that's
just me. so, checkered would be the next best. white roofs make the
car look cute.

I like the aerokit in some situations but for the most part it looks kinda cheap/tacky to me.

was gonna get the black, but went with white last minute. I think the white roof on a stock mcs can look "cute" but I dont think its the white roof alone that is the problem.

RallyMINI (I think) has a pretty sweet looking CR/W that looks anything but cute to me.

As for the checkered roof, not my thing either. To me, thats not agressive at all. (well, i guess it could be, but I want more of a sleek/clean look.

You should talk to Rally... He's managed to get his CR/W looking amazing with significantly "simple" mods... A lot of work into his car, but nothing too outrageous. He has dark wheels, too. Here are some quick shots:

I could keep on going... lol. I hope he doesn't mind!

He does have the checkered roof, which is fine, in my opinion. It kinda ties the car together, 'cause if you have CR/W, then dark wheels, it'd look a little off, as if something else is "needed" to make it all together. The checkers do just that, and I think it looks great.

Hope this helps,
Leo.

EDIT: I just saw last minute that you had already mentioned Rally... Anyways, I'll leave the pics up, still... Sorry.

And just a question, why not go with CR/W, dark-*** tints, and WHITE wheels?? I mean, yeah - they're harder to keep clean, but oh-so sweet!

Just my taste, though.
Leo.

I dunno...I dont like 'em on the CR. I'll admit I have a weird taste. I know in my mind exactly what i want the car to look like.

Yeah but if you decal over the glass, I think the sunroof would still show through. That would look like crap. I suppose I could just do around the sunroof...I'll think about it.

You can do it over the roof without seeing the sunroof. You just put white checks on the black glass That would be cool because it hides the big sunroof up there. They also have "perforated" vinyl so that you can still see through the entire sunroof.

In terms of making the dark wheels fit. That's great that you are thinking about it. A lot of people forget to make color choices flow throughout the car and not just the wheels. On a CR/W you need to definitely have some black accents to tie the dark wheels into the car.

I think it would be possible for you to do that without even going with the checker board if you thought about these black accents:
-Aero grill, or black slats (like on mine)
-Cooper side grilles (nice little black accent on the side)
-Definitely get tinted windows. (mine are 50% tint above if that helps)
-Keep the black arches

Having those may easily be enough to tie the darker wheels into the picture. Having the black arches on MINI's makes running anthracite wheels pretty easy

Another pic of my car that shows the checkerboard with the other black accents:

and the wheels with the accents:

Thanks for the compliment

You are one of the few people who have ever noticed the stripes

I noticed them a while back...makes me wanna rip mine of and re-do them. lol

Also...did you just paint your stock grille or is that after market? I really like the aero grille but to me it looks too plain when you lose the chrome trim, yours looks better.

if you notice in the two pics i just posted....i went and bought an 05 grille to smooth out the chrome piece...then i painted the stock slats myself. Flat black to match the other black parts.
