Rear seat delete pix

I did this about a month ago but never put up pix. Here are a couple shots of the mod. I put dynamat on the metal and then carpet on top of that. I cut the plastic and made a storage place for all my goodies and then put carpet on top of that. In person the carpets match much better but I think the flash made it all weird.

have you thought about putting a stereo in there? I was looking at Ralph's and thought it might be the perfect place to hide a small sub on one side and an amp on the other

Thank you for the nice words. I think it is ABS plastic, I bought it off some company for $100 bucks already cut, shaped and had the taps for the bolts to keep it in place. It was my idea to cut the door and put carpet. I don't think it would hold a person but I do put 50lb boxes on it all day long five days a week. You could make it out of something stronger but then it would add more weight.
I though about a stereo but my car has the HK system and I really like it. It is the first OEM stereo I'm happy with and most likely won't change. My focus is on performance, so maybe next year I will have 300wheel hp.

Ok I think I know the kit you're talking about, that is a smart idea adding the extra door, beign up north I currently have everything loaded up witht he Oh S*** kit, in case I sudder a break-down, get snowed in, off into a ditch that sort of thing, but once spring rools arond that type of functionality would likely be appreciated. I know some have put subs in there but I'm after the function and weight savings but I too am more of a gear head than audiophile when it comes to being in the car.

I think the weight savings is 36lbs total when you remove the rear seat and replace it with the large plastic piece. BTW those are great pix of your car, better than I could ever do.

Thanks.

I'm holding off, my rear seat belts are held in by one bolt blocked by the curtain airbags, I should get another 5lbs or so when I can remove the rest of that setup. The RSD and wheels are what I think the two biggest and most practical (expect those ywho use it as a family car) weight savings are.
