no hoodscoop...

so, Im having my cooper hood replaced with a cooper s hood after hitting a deer. PROBLEM is they told me insurance wont cover the hood scoop and they want to charge me 400 for it... I figured Id find one used on here and put it in. BUT that still leaves me with a big hole in my hood for a while..

can anyone tell me what this is going to look like?

thanks,
Justin

It wont look exactly like that ...but its gonna look pretty close. It's basically a hole a little smaller than the one above with a few visible tabs.

How about holding off on installing the new bonnet until the scoop arrives? That way you don't have to jury-rig a cover? That's what *I* would do in your shoes anyway...

Just think of it as a bigger ram air effect, to cool your engine cover.

OK, seriously.

You could buy some black vinyl (any fabric store should have tons), cut it to fit with an overlap on the inside, and get some velcro strips to hold it in place.

I'd worry about the vinyl blowing into the bay, settling on the engine and melting, personally. Seriously... that would be VERY bad, methinks.

Put a WTB in the marketplace. I'm sure there are people out there who have put on aftermarket scoops and have a stock one laying around. Maybe you can find one that's already CR or black.

I dont have the money yet to pay for a hoodscoop I wouldn't have done the cooper s hood in the first place if I would have found out earlier that my insurance wasnt going to pay for it :impatient :impatient

I have a stock JB hood scoop with a few stone chips which I just swapped out last night for an M7 Ram scoop. All tabs are fine , etc. Make me an offer.

Why would you think the insurance company would pay for a part that wasn't originally on the car??

FYI, you'll need both the scoop and the big black (diverter?) that's underneath it. For some reason I'm thinking I saw one in marketplace recently, but can't seem to find it.

I was led to believe it would all be covered either way

I guess thats not as bad as I expected infact.. It seems like there are some holes in place? I bet I could drill some plexiglass into those holes.

Buy one used....

and don't screw around. If you jury rig something, and your hand slips, there goes your new paint! Why cut corners when the right way to do it is so close at hand?

I have a BRG scoop. I also have the factory air diverter to go with it. I know you dont have an S but maybe it would make the air hit something important?
