There was a guy in the UK advertising these; he could do any custom order (or so he SAID).
I, like a number of other people, gave him $200 for these and never got anything!

I'm glad to see someone in the states is finally making them

It says they come with instructions. If not, I have some that I got off NAM a while ago...

Why don't you offer up your car and e-mail the seller. See if he will work with you and get some to market... What I mean is, you scan your speedo and send it to him so he can make a template and you get a discount or something like that...

I wonder if these will do well...they look a lot like the sets that came out a year ago that some vendors carried in the UK but mysteriously dropped.

I have first runs of the OutMotoring faces but have yet to test install them and do an initial order. hopefully in the next few weeks I can get them tested out and move forward...and they will be MUCH less $$ than the set described...

... do a set for cars with the Chrono Pack, would you?

I'd really like proper white-on-black instruments.

Good to hear.

These look really cool but I'm sorry, they are waaaaay overpriced. I have performance mods on my car that cost less than these. Heck, my functioning aftermarket aux gauges cost less than that. (The whole thing, not just the face)

It amazes me how much some accessories for MINIs cost. My bf bought a whole new set of guage faces for his Miata for $38 a few months ago and they look great.

For me, the colors are too bright, and the black is too black. Aside from that, I'm surprised they didn't fix a few of the 'design' issues with them! (Like, in the US, instead of a dumb "Service Engine Soon" and "Brake", how about something like the Canadian 'engine' symbol and the 'brake' symbol? And for folks like me (and other folks who have me do their dashes), getting rid of the red over-print on the engine overheat and low-fuel indicators. The LEDs that light those up are already red, and with it filtered red, blue and green light just can not penetrate that well..)

But, I digress.
Me.

Agreed....if its gonna be custom....be full custom. I would love to see those things offered. And i share the feelings on price too...150 seems to be a lot. I have created my own vector file for the tach and got quotes to do both gauges in brushed metal for less than 150 (as long as i bought them in quantity)

I like the concept, but I would want to know how they look at night with dashboard lighting. My GP has orange LED lighting, but I don't know if that is standard across the range. Might look odd and difficult to read, but I defer to your personal experience.

Does anyone know what symbols are on the speedo for the (starting from left to right) the 1st and 3rd circles (where the seatbelt light is, etc.)... Trying something out and it doesn't look right with nothing there.

Orange is standard, unless (like me), you modify your dash.

What year? On '02s, nothing was there. On '03's and up, the third is the low-brake-pad warning light.

Unless you're Canadian, in which then I will have to get back to you once I get home and look at my Canadian model speedo dial.

Me.

Hmm yeah that's what i thought, just double checking. Yes its an '02. So I guess that leaves room for some creativity lol... I'll post pics later of what my gauges should look like when their done.

Blacker than black? I likes!

I was pondering ordering some, but now that OutMotoring is coming out with some cheaper, I'm gonna hold off... They better have the black black ones tho.

Heh!! With my custom painted dash, black would stand out like a sore thumb. I'm partial to the dark grey, like the GP ones, definately.

With any luck, I'll have a set of dark gray faces w/ white numerals (standard only, guys, sorry) that I can document by this time next week...

I'll be sure to take photos in the daytime and at night on my actual car. I'll also document the install process from front to back - I have a number of different documents that talk about bits and peices of related mods (dash removal, gauges, etc.), but nothing out there actually outlines the gauge face replacement SPECIFICALLY... Wish me luck!

PS- Anyone in Central Ohio thart wants to lend a hand let me know - I can always use an extra set of hands to either turn wrentcheds while I photograph or snap pics while I destro... erm... while I MODIFY my car.

They were designed after the originals. If anything they light up brighter than stock, but you can always control it with the dimmer. The company specializes in aerospace dials that need precise backlighting. Check their website www.cockpitspecialties.com. Jack
