Who got the ebay driving lights????

Yesterday at 4:30 CDT, a set of MINI driving lights went on ebay for $108.50 (new cost $389). I was watching, but have resolved to buy no more car stuff until I get my car back from the body shop and know it is OK. It looks like someone got a great deal. If it is a NAMer, I would love to know how you like them, and how the install goes.

I bought a set for 99.00 they were generic with mounts for the MCS. I put them on the convertible...install went smooth, about an hour to run wiring and everything. You will have to drill a couple holes and there are no instructions.

You're not limited to MINI brand, remember... I got my lights (Hellas) for less than $60 and the bonnet brackets from Outmotoring for about $60. They're lower-profile than the OEM ones, are black instead of chrome and are every bit as bright, even though they're a touch smaller...

Plus, they light up at night if I want them to!

Of course, you may LIKE the big "chrome salad bowl" look - I know some people really do, so for those don't forget to look at PIAAs. Hella makes some larger, chromed lights as well, if that's what you're looking for. All are FAR less than the OEM driving lamp kit.

I have a document I wrote up detailing the entire installation of both the brackets AND the lights... I'll see about putting it up in a thread.

Imagox,

Usually, I'm not too keen on the additional lights but yours look great. They are like the Angeleyes as far as I can see.

Yeah, the Optilux series have angel eyes. They use the cheaper, LED versions and not the ring technology developed for BMW so they're dimmer (only visable at night). But angel eyes lights with the ring technology are like $400 or more.

Edit: Here's an Amazon entry for them - $55 and change with free Super Saver shipping.

Actually, those lights didn't come with the wiring harness, switch or light covers, (and they wanted $35 to ship to CA!) so I'd just call it an ok deal. I got an OEM set (complete) for $150, which worked for me. There are definitely cheaper solutions, and there's no way I could see $400 for the lights and $400 for installation!
I guess I like the "chrome salad bowl" look.
