Interior chrome retrofit

Has anyone done the interior chrome retrofit? It looks like there is an actual replacement kit, and then there are several adhesive overlays.

I think I'd do the actual replacement if I decided to do it. Any experiences? I did a search but didn't see any actual opinions on the kit, just some confusion as to how to install it.

I have heard its best to get the OEM pieces cause there not much more and the look is better, also from what i understand the rings just twist off. I have the OEM chrome from the factory so i dont know but i do wish that the dimmer switch and the emergancy light switch didnt have chrome rings.

I bought a kit from mymini...looks good, (in the box) but haven't installed because I want it to be at least 50 degrees. I will let you know. Spent about $300 for about 30 pieces. Is there such as thing as "too much" chrome?

Holy cow that's a lot of chrome. Any idea how much the factory chrome kit costs??

Never!

It's been a couple of years since I bought the chrome trim ring kit from the dealer, but it was less than $100. There is nowhere near 30 pieces though.
I could only find the install instructions for pre-'05 models, but that will give you an idea of how it fits. The hardest part was the speedo trim ring - I was
hesitant to pull off the dash but it comes off fairly easily, and mine did not
have as many screws holding it in place as the guide suggests. You will have to buy an aftermarket "peel-and-stick" ring for the tach,
unless you want to remove the entire tach to replace that ring. (Moss MINI makes a nice looking one).

B&D, I met you and "wikked" at MTTS in the RFK lot in DC. Your scoop looks like what I bought from mymini. It is a plastic piece that goes over the stock. It is still in the box in this weather, not suitable for install.

I wanted a real chrome scoop, but the original piece is plastic too...where did you get yours?

If I remember correctly, I got it at MossMini.com.

It was the same "plastic/chrome" overlay, and Moss had the best price.

The Chrome pieces on WIKKED are "accents" not blobs.......

I have the chrome kit on my gauge-packed Checkmate... and recently drove a loaner with graphite... (sheepishly) I liked graphite.... or c/f... wish I could change but don't want to bust anything in the process...
