Interior/Exterior Attn CVT Owners ! Whalen Shift Knob ??

PS-What is the stick called on an automatic? Shifter sounds wrong, and gear change lever sounds over-done...

Tuls - no sweat - Blimey knows all (I'm stalking you guys).
Actually was just looking at Doug's gallery today and saw Stoopid's **** then.
ML - the MCS **** is quite a bit different than the CVT ***** - but I suspect that the internals are the same and the shaft is the same...
Here's a pic

I still call it a shifter. After all, I spend a lot of time SHIFTING into sport mode and SHIFTING back into drive. And sometimes I find myself SHIFTING in manual mode.
So... it's still a SHIFTER.

Really - it should "shim" it up nicely when dry, and you should still be able to pull it off if needed...

So my shift lever is about 0.55" in diameter, and has a slot across the top end running front to rear, and has a groove in it a couple of inches down the shaft - is that similar to the CVT? On Whalen's page, I see something about a plastic locating pin in the **** that lines up with a slot in the lever - is this the slot across the top? Does the manual one run side to side or front to back? Just trying to confirm before I order.
I received my blue w/ red stripe and white stitching Redline boots - they ROCK. Now I MUST have a ****...

Blimey, yes, that plastic locating pin is the one that runs across the top of the shift lever. But I don't recall if that pin ran front to back or side to side inside the lever. Want me to go pull it off and find out ? I hope not because that thing's a real b___ to get on and off !
Now, like Mel stated, my know is a hair loose, too. Not vertically, it won't budge up or down. But the **** turns about 20 degrees left and right. Of course, as **** as I am, I'm constantly checking it to make sure the MINI Wings are squared up properly. :impatient

Yes, Mr Whalen has engineered a shift know for our MINIs with auto trannies.
When you pulll off your existing ****, you can remove the locking lever with it. You're left with a shift rod with a plastic locking pin at the top. His custom **** fits down over that locking pin and then you push it down and turn it into place.
Mine does turn a little bit but it's not an issue other than aesthetically. It could be fixed by removing it, adding some electrical tape or something to make the fit a little tigher.

On the CVT the slot runs like so...
The manuals slot runs left to right, but since our levers dont go low enough to slide into the slot it dosnt matter (thats why we can rotate it, it dosnt 'lock' its rotational position) but if your worried that your will reach the slot (becuase its a MCSa, not a CVT) just have Doug engrave the **** turned 90º, that way the lock lever will line up with the slot facing the correct way.

That looks JUST LIKE mine - except that little black disk thing came off with my stock boot and I didn't put it back on - I'm wondering if you remove it, if that will let your **** go "all the way on"...
Already talking with Doug about my UJ design.
To match my new Redline boots.
