Checker and Union Jack Door Handles - Anyone?

The new Checker and Union Jack door handles are now available for all MINIs. Has anyone installed these? Anyone have a step by step? It looks like you would have to take off the inside door panel to do the install.

Available to fit the 02-06 MINIs ?! EXCELLENT !!!

WHERE ?

I would think they'd come with installation instructions. But yes, the inner door panel removal would be necessary, I'm 99% sure.

If they're for real, they just sold a pair to ME...

Those are perfect - just what the side view of my car needed...

Oh, how I will catch hell from my wife for this...

Now you just need to order that set of plastic trim tools from EAS to help with the installation! After all what good is a project if you don't need to buy a new tool to complete it. Something else for the little lady to be upset at us for.

As usual, Morristown MINI offers it at a price 20% lower than most other places I've seen.

Anyone know if the handles are sold by the piece or in pairs?

That's interesting.. When i first saw them i figured they would just stick on over the handles with the double sided tape..
Are you people saying they are actually a complicated install??

Thanks for that link ! $88 a pair sure beats $110 a pair.

I think that already answered your question. That price you see is for one. You have to click on the drop down and order a right one and a left one. Two separate items.

Thanks again !

Oh, and RealOEM shows a 3rd "Black Jack" option. Anyone seen a pic? If it's a black and white Union Jack it'll look PERFECT on D.B.

Here's the "Black Jack" from minimania. Seems like the price of $132 is for the pair (better be!).

http://new.minimania.com/web/Item/G2.../InvDetail.cfm

Looks pretty cool!

Odd.... Mini Mania's site says they're for 2007 models. The other websites listed above have them for the 2002-2006 models.

Makes me wonder if the websites are accurate.

I read somewhere (MINI2??) that the handles are the same from the facelifted R50/53's through the R56 with the R56 comfort access handles being the exception.

Oh, and RealOEM brings them up as an option for my '06 as well.
(Link in my post (#15) above )

Cool. Thanks.

Someone should tell Mini Mania so they don't lose potential sales due to their site misinformation.

I have not replaced door handles, but I know it is very difficult to do. glnr13 swapped his for carbon fibre handles and never even got to the drivers side because it was so frustrating.

Really? Crap Any idea what the problem was? It LOOKS simple enough but as we know, that's usually the kiss of death

I asked to double check, and I was told that these most definitely should work on '02-'06 models.

You will have to PM glnr13 for the details of doing the install. I checked my Bentley manual and it is not much help .
