Does anyone make a filler plate for the stock ugly plastic license plate mounting bracket? I am in OH and we have front plates. I want to relocate the plate with the front tow hook socket bracket, but no sense unless I can get rid of the original moulded bracket. Thanks in advance and this is my first post.
he has an '04 (pre-facelift) cooper, so he has the plate bracket integrated into that detachable piece/portion of bumper where the euro-sized plate would otherwise mount to. it doesn't look like there's a filler flush w/ the bumper, not from the factory anyway. maybe you can just remove that piece of integrated bracket? but that'd look funny w/ the tow hook-mounted plate
I cant find an aftermarket filler plate either. I think I will make a filler plate myself and paint it, then use the tow hook bracket. I think it would clean up the front end quite a bit.
I think he just mounted that plate in the recess that the plate holder sits in. That might be an idea. I will have to take the stock bracket off and give it a look.
Are you talking about the black plastic tag holder, if so, you can just unscrew them?? It will leave 2 drilled holes in front though, but very small. On previous MCS I placed little plastic screws in holes and touched up in BRG.
I'm east of Cinci & I've yet to be stopped or questioned about the lack of a front plate...in fact...while pulled over for speeding, the cop questioned the meaning of the license plate - when I told him (curve eater) he chuckled and said it made sense given the teeth that were on the front of the car (at that time).
