So I need your opinion on something...

I'm wondering what you fellow NAM'ers think about this:

I have an '03 MCS that is electric blue with white top and stripes. My friend offered to airbrush the top of my car for a custom look. My question to you all is, what ar your opinions on changing the top of the car from white to black as well as the stripes?

I took a picture of my car and threw it into paint(I suck at photoshop ) and zoomed in to get it as accurate as possible. I can post a picture of it if you want to see it.

But any input would be appreciated...

Thanks!

I think that the EB/B is a good look. It really just depends on what the final look that you want. Personally I'd go black.

My 2003 MCS had a white top. I always thought about painting it black but never did. Black tops are a nice look. I'd say go for it!

EB looks good with either the black or white roof - if you want black, then go for it.

If you're getting the roof repainted, though, why not go for something custom? Doesn't have to be flames or leopard spots or anything outrageous, but how about a clearcoat with some blue pearl in it, over the white? Or how about painting it Hyper Blue, or Dark Silver? Or Astro Black? Or Hemi Orange?

THE CHOICES ARE ENDLESS!!

This is going to sound strange, but I have a strange obsession with pirates(no, not like that ) And I've had it since I first rode Pirates of the Caribbean at Dismoland when I was a wee little lad, not because of the onslaught of Johnny Depp(even though those movies are great). My friend is putting some ideas down on paper, but I was thinking...since a lot of people do the British flag on the top of their Mini, why not do a pirate flag? So thats my idea. I'm not even sure if I'm going to go through with it. I wanna wait to see how it looks on paper.

Cool, cool. A big fat Jolly Rodger would look good on the roof of a MINI, and of course, black would be the only acceptable background for that...

I personally think a black roof on ANY MINI adds aggression to the car. I think the EB/B combo would look EXCELLENT!

Do whatever you want ... it's a Mini.
I put a rising sun on mine and I like it.

That's what Minis are all about ... no rules !!!

I would just get a solid black roof decal. That way it's not permanent & if you change you mind on down the road it's an easy fix

Have you thought about EB/EB? My partner has DS/DS and it looks very nice. I don't know that I've ever seen a solid EB. Mine is indie/black, and I want to get my roof painted indie blue at some point. It opens up more opportunities for stripes. I want to do a wide single frosted stripe on the bonnet, but w/ a black roof, I don't think it would look all that good. Just another thing to think about.

That's an excellent idea, but that would defeat the purpose of having a custom airbrush job done. I know he would be able to paint directly on the car. I don't know if he would be able to put it on some kind of decal with having to airbrush...

I'll get those pictures into photoshop, or have him do it, and then post those when I get them up.

Oh I thought you were just going to have the guy airbrush your whole roof black which seemed kinda odd

I also have that pirate obsession spawned by the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. I've seen a few Jolly Rogers on the roofs of MINIs here on NAM and they look pretty cool. However, if you really wanted to be different, you could get Blackbeard's flag instead of the traditional skull and crossbones (although, it is rather morbid).

EB/B looks great. So does EB/EB. Shooler has a killer EB/ EB combo, that would've looked good with the black roof too.

Here it is

pre-mods:

A black roof would look great. Graphic too.

A quick photoshop:

I have a CR/W that I thought about switching over to CR/B.

The reason I went with white... we live in Texas and it gets hotter than a... well, you get the point. I thought the white roof would be cooler(?), but I still like the look of the black.

If I had a friend that would air brush my roof for a custom look, I'd jump all over it.

That look amazing!!!
Thanks so much! Now I definately have no problems with my decision. Heres the plan:
Black roof with airbrush pirate paraphernalia
Black mirror caps
Black Motegi Traklite 17x7 in Falken Azenis
and last but not least, tint (done)

Thanks again peoples!
