2006 JCW rear sway bar
I would like to replace the rear sway bar on my JCW. Other than the varying types and costs, what I am asking advice for is what to expect of the job? How much time and how involved is the job? I do have access to a full size lift (which will be sweet )
Thank you

It is not too hard to replace the rear bar. Probably a couple hours doing it your first time. There is probably a how to if you search. The basics are: Jack up the rear of the car (both sides), remove the wheels/tires, disconnect the sway bar end links, remove the strut assembly (only needs to be removed from one side), remove sway bar bracket bolts (4, 2 each side), remove the subframe bolts. Those bolts are a little difficult to reach but not too bad. You need to pry down on the subframe to provide clearance to get the old bar pulled out from one side and to install the new bar. Bolt everything back together. No special tools are needs.

LOL. the longest part was putting the subframe back up... it was crooked and I was alone and muscled it... next time I will use my spare jack to lift.

I just have to add that you will love this upgrade. I recently fitted a 19mm ALTA bar on my R53 JCW and the improvement in handling is just incredible. The rear stays so planted now, with a very progressive breakaway into a four-wheel drift as speeds increase. I thought my MINI was fun before, but now...woo!
