JCW GarageInterested in John Cooper Works (JCW) parts for your 2nd Generation MINI? This is where JCW upgrades and accessories for the MINI Clubman (R55), Cooper and Cooper S (R56), and Cabrio (R57) MINIs are discussed.
Woot woot!! Now available in iTunes for download ! Perfect timing as I will be picking up my 2011 JCW w/ Connect on Monday afternoon (pending my missing tire shows up in the mail from tirerack.com ) Still good news for those of us with MINI Connected shipping with our vehicles .
I hooked it up to my '11 non-MINI Connected system just to see if I could get it to do anything. It could only get it to play web radio and nothing else. Sounded good though...
Yeah I am anxiously awaiting my Monday p/u . I wonder if anyone else has had a chance to play with the app in the car from the US. I watched a video last week on youtube that had video playing on the screen . I will be sure to post all of my findings
That will be one of the first things I check on Monday. If it does not play while driving I think that might be one of the first things I have to "toy" with.
Notice in the video that the speedo is at zero, and the camera pans over to show the digital speed also at zero. It's legal because MINI disables it unless the car is stopped and the parking brake is engaged. That is standard practice in the auto industry and pretty much required worldwide. However the interlock is usually easy to bypass to get video while moving.
As long as it works when the car is parked, I dont really care.
I was just curious that Mini only allowed certain part of country. (it seems like the person who uploaded those video is from Africa).
I totally agree that it is better to be turned off when the car is moving, however, if it works, it is VERY NICE thing to have while you wait in the parking lot for someone or for your spouse. ^^
wow that split screen is pretty cool! is mini connected something you can have installed if you already have an older mini with nav system? that would be pretty convenient!!!
So video playback is part of the standard feature set?
"video playback capability" is in all the press releases and product specs from MINI, including the MINIUSA website: http://www.miniusa.com/top-feature-c...Top_Features-m (click on "NEW:MINI Connected w/Optional Nav")

Indeed it does, dunno how I missed that feature. BONUS!
another question:
Have you received your ipod connector with your car or did you have to purchase those separately?
I'm also trying to get an answer to this question. It seems like the info I've come across has left me with the impression that it is part of the connected package, but I'm not sure. I should find out in a couple weeks.
has anyone tried playing video on your mini in US?
I read some are having trouble playing video on their mini.

I've played video (2 movies) in my 2011 MINI with MINI Connected, the only issue I have is that there's a delay between audio and video, I'm looking in to it. If you have a MINI with manual tranny, make sure your parking brake is engaged otherwise it won't play the video, not sure on automatics, but I'm guessing it has to be in park.
You actually receive 2 cables to connect to your MINI, one is for iPod and the other for iPhone.
