JCW GarageInterested in John Cooper Works (JCW) parts for your 2nd Generation MINI? This is where JCW upgrades and accessories for the MINI Clubman (R55), Cooper and Cooper S (R56), and Cabrio (R57) MINIs are discussed.
I'm 56 and have been driving my 2009 R55 JCW since late May. I can only say it's a fun daily driver - worth the extra expense of a JCW over an S - IMHO.
38. Just purchased an 09 JCW recently. I also previously had an 05 MCS. Reading this thread I'm amazed at how many lucky, young JCW owners there are. My first car was a 1980 Chevy Chevette (the Vette!) with a bad clutch purchased for $600 cash.

Amen to the above. My first car was a 1962 Ford Falcon wagon with a straight six and "three on the tree". It was given to my dad by one of his patients who couldn't pay his bill.
I´m 50 and my wife i 40.
She drives a MINI Countryman SD Auto All4 2012 And a just order a MINI Clubman S JCW Manual gear (delivery in April 2013)
It´s my sec JCW, I had one Hatch JCW from 2005 before (Sold in april 2012).
43, wanted a Mini Cooper S the first year they hit the US Soil but either couldn't afford it or my money was being spent elsewhere. Finally 10 years later I decided it was the perfect time and since I waited 10 years for my first mini I felt I deserved to step it up to a JCW. Ordered in Dec 2012 and should arrive late Feb if I am lucky. Test drove an MCS, then a JCW and then another MCS and for the $6k average difference I figured it would be a well spent $100 (about) more per month.
The waiting is killing me but I know I only have great things to look forward to in the not too distant future.
I'm 61--my JCW MINI is sitting in Louisville waiting on spoiler upgrade ---My MINI is Black -w- white Viper top and boot stripes and a bunch of after market parts waiting on him !
62. 2013 FJCW hardtop. Picked it up last week. It's my first JCW but my fifth MC. Traded in a 2005 R53 for this new JCW bad boy. Never thought I'd find myself in a second gen Cooper but this JCW is killer.
27 here. I started with a 06S, but some jackass in a lifted truck ran me over. Then a 05 STi followed by a 12 Fiesta. But now I'm back in a MINI 09 R55 fJCW. Loving it!!

As far as the fun factor goes, how do you compare your STI do the JCW? Do you feel like you are missing out on any of the power?

My STi made 567hp on c16. So as far as raw power and beating the hell out of anything that tried, I miss it. However, I love everything about the Mini. Making that much power in a Suby is a constant nightmare/money pit. If it was my fun car and not my daily driver it would have been great. I miss the big turbo slamming me into the seat and all, but 9-10mpg sucks.
I'm perfectly happy with my compromise with half the weight and power, and much happier at the pump.
I would be ecstatic if someone made openport (free) tuning possible on the MINI! $800 for a tune sucks and is why I haven't done it yet
