Well,
Im Back...............hahaha
This is a great thread, and getting me excited about driving a mcs or jcw!
Im getting out of biking I believe and using my head a little more,,,,,,
And looking at trading my '11 zx-10r mint condition bike in on a sports car.
My list started at
Boxster
Z4
135
911, 997 flavor
cts-v
C7
TT-rs
New M3
New 235
possible deposit M2
But after reading more and more about the JCW. I think Im leaning this route.
I might even post a trade for my bike on a '12-'13 JCW !!

I went from a 2006 Audi S4 that i loved soooooo much and swore up and down that nothing would ever top it. Till i took an 09 JCW for a test drive, i had so much fun that it was hard not to keep it. I couldn't get it off my mind and went back and bought it. I haven't looked back and whenever i start to miss my Audi i think about my JCW and forget all about it. The S4 was obviously more powerful but a lot bigger, the JCW handles corners and maneuvering through traffic so much easier. Plus the fact that i get to have as much fun driving my JCW and get the gas mileage i do. The S4 got about 17 mpg average with my lead foot, the JCW gets about 30. An extra 13 mpg? I'll take it!
The only downside is the fact that i can maneuver in and out of traffic and into tight parking spaces with such ease that i'm sure it has irritated many other drivers around me. It has caused a bit of a problem as i know i shouldn't drive in such a manner but it truly is not my fault, the mini makes me do it.

I had a 2003 M5 that was my favorite car for all the years I owned it, just monstrously fast and super comfortable. Could handle just about anything (except for winter). My situation was very similar to the fellow above who came from an Audi ( except the M5 got totaled :(), as my mother had purchased a 2009 Justa Clubman, which was obviously much less extreme than the bummer, but I had incomparable fun driving that thing around. Even though it's not fast by M standards you could just feel that it had a very strong, very smooth engine and some of the most engaging drive dynamics I've experienced to this day.
So anyways, after my bimmer was totaled I just sort of naturally gravitated towards a JCW, knowing that if the base model was as much fun as it was, then throwing a hefty turbo into the mix certainly couldn't hurt. And what do you know, after one test drive I was absolutely floored and had to have it ( plus it's laser blue, which is a very similar but much more vibrant shade than my beloved bimmer and when I first saw the LB/Black with black rims combo I nearly pooed from excitement) and the rest is history I suppose. Now I just can't stop modding the dammed thing :0. It really does make a fantastic noise, especially considering it's a little four. Even the base model has that distinctive growl. I'm pretty sure it's what makes life worth it.

The SLK55 is a luxury car trying to be a sports car. Except for the great HP/torque and sleek design it really needs to stay in the luxury market. If your searching for a fun car to drive around town, spirited driving on back roads, and maybe a day at the track the Mini Cooper GP is absolutely perfect. It has plenty of power and if you put Michelin Pilot Super Sport Tires 215/45/17 on the car it can be utilized as a daily driver. Trust me the only thing that comes close in the Porsche lineup is the Boxster Spyder at $65k used or a GT3 at $75k used. I have driven both of these cars on and off the track with the Mini GP being just as fun but with less HP and I still have $30k to spend on a dedicated track car if I want. In fact, it was a number of my Porsche track friends that led me to the Mini Cooper GP since they drive a JCW around town.
So I guess the question should be are you a driver searching for a fun, reasonable priced car that will bring a smile to your face very day on the road. I think if your going to compare cars it really should include something closely resembling a similar price point. Comparing a Mini Cooper S to a 911 or Cayman is just plain unfair since a new Cayman is $80k and a 2010 is still $40k plus. Personally, I would take a 2013 Mini Cooper GP2 over a used SLK55, used Porsche 911, or used Cayman S/Boxster S any day especially when you consider the bang for the buck. In fact, I recently sold 2 Porsches in favor of a slightly used Mini GP2 that I am very pleased with. Here are some of my recent cars.
2007 997.1 S with GT3 aero
2006 Cayenne S Titanium
2012 Boxster Spyder
2007 SLK 55
2004 735i
2004 BMX X5 4.6i
Good luck on your choice!

Had MINIs in the past, came to my current Roadster S from the car with the longest name ever, the Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback Ralliart. Fabulous transmission, lots of power, but 20mpg and an interior made from recycled milk bottles. Handling was OK, but as soon as we got my wife's automatic Justa Clubman I knew it was time to get back into a MINI myself. My Roadster is slower in a straight line, but it makes up for that everywhere else!
