GP2 Front Brake Retrofit?

Has anyone retrofitted the GP2 front brakes to their R56/R55/R57/R58/R59 yet? Would like to hear what parts were required and approx cost . . .

Front calipers are the same as 135, the rotors are completely different. The hubs on the 135 are 5 bolt etc etc

I don't know how to piece them together, but here's the full kit:

Although there are probably better kits from other companies for the cost/value.

You will need calipers (including brackets), discs, disc back plates and hoses from GP2. Then straight swap, easy.

I'm toying with the idea also so I priced out the parts on ecstuning.com. I didn't include the wear pad sensors even though they are different part numbers. Other than that I think I've included everything.

GP2 Brakes Retrofit

Caliper Housing - Left 34106858069 $649.53
Protection Plate - Left 34116772549 SAME AS THE "S" reuse

Caliper Housing - Right 34106858070 $649.53
Protection Plate - Right 34116772550 SAME AS THE "S" reuse

Rotor - Set - 13" (330x25) 34116858071 $283.20
Brake Pad - Set 34106860642 $229.20
Brake Rotor Screw - Qty 2 - (M10x13) 7136772426 $2.94
Brake Hose - Qty 2 34306858079 $65.34

$1879.74

Does anyone know if the dealer will reflash the computer after this upgrade? I know they they will for the JCW Sport brake upgrade.

Also be aware that the master cylinder is a different part on the gp2 compared to all other r56's.

I dont think it will be a critical difference though.

@cerenkov

Do you have to have it reflash? I don't understand why... for the DST? ABS?

For the price, might as well get Stoptechs and not have to deal with any retrofit issues....just my .02 cents.

You don't have to reflash, but yes I think it is to optimize the performance of the ABS/DSC system. There is a MINI service bulletin out there for reflashing for those that upgrade to the JCW BBKs.

The Stoptechs are nice, and they are about same price. I do like the silver color of the trophy kits. For me this would be a 100% "for looks" upgrade.

does anyone know if the 135i calipers are exactly the same? meaning will the bolt right up? looks like you can source them cheaper than the Gp caliper, it would be pretty cool having the caliper saying BMW. although i do like the red.

Decided to do it. Fills up the wheel very nicely.

They sure do. Looks good. How did you know if the wheels would clear?

There is a wheel fitment thread for the GP, and I saw that Mboy did the retrofit on an r53 with the same wheelsb it with a different offset. My wheels are 17x7 +45. BUT I needed to space it 15mm. When I bought the wheels 2yrs ago I didn't think about this upgrade, or the fact that I want wider wheels now, but anyway it gives the car a nice flush look which is a plus.

My wheels are the same offset, ET45, but are 7.5x17 and fit without the need for spacers.

Out of interest I have fitted GP2 brakes to my JCW.

The master cylinder on the GP2 is different to the JCW. However, the brakes work fine with the JCW master cylinder, slightly different pedal feel though.

The calipers just bolt straight on with no problems

What about the back brakes? Are the GP2 rear brakes the same as standard JCW / MCS?

More important to me, are the 135i rear calipers a bolt on item ( rotors aside of course)

According to ReamOEM, the caliper and rotor are the same, but the rear carrier is different (new part number) on the GP2.
