Love the Salt & Pepper!
Have ordered the F54 Clubman Pepper white with black top, mirror covers, badges, piano black license plate frame and all trim. Already purchased the black bonnet air scoop to replace the pepper white one, black wiper spray cleaner (what do you call the things on hood that shoot out the window wash anyway!), black handles and tape to cover the beltline. (Cant wait until they make a trim kit for the beltline in black, saw it on another model Mini and it looks so much better than the tape) and night black sunroof decal.
Considering: black stripes, black wheels and performance summer tires, window tint in a grey tone.
Really like this color combination. Maybe in my next life I will go bold and get a bright orange or yellow Mini!

Do you still have this car and how had the black paint held up (swirl marks, water marks, etc) if you don't mind me asking. I've got one real similar on order now and a buddy of mine who does detailing is trying really hard to talk me out of the black. Thanks for your time.

Swirls and hard water spots are an inevitability regardless of paint color. They are defects that happen to the surface of the clearcoat. Black with a shiny clearcoat shows every little spec of dirt, dust scratches, fingerprints, etc.
So the answer really depends on how much you wash your car, with what methods. Auto car washes vs touchless ones. How much of nature, road debris, fallout, bird poop, dust, dirt, rocks, chemicals, the sun, etc. the paint is exposed to.
From time to time, you will need to have some paint correction done either in 1, 2, or 3 stages to remove all the imperfections. It is a never ending cycle.
You can make your life easier by doing PPF for rock chip protection if that’s a concern, and for cleanliness you can have the paint coated with a ceramic (SIO2) paint sealant. It will help fight against some chemicals and water spots, but really makes regular maintenance washing go easier and faster.
I will stop here before I go further down the rabbit hole.
Oh and I used to have Rebel Green, which is pretty darn close to black. Same issues. Never will I buy a dark colored car again. You just see every imperfection - and that bugged me. Happy with my Moonwalk Grey now.
