JCW Tool kit
#5
Only the Coopers are getting kits these days (except on the Countryman/Paceman, where run flats are standard). You can technically order the kit and it will fit under the floor in the boot, but the jack is pretty basic and most likely expensive for what you get.

The manual has a diagram. They are located about a couple inches away from the wheels.

I was talking about the lift points underneath the car like when lifting with a hydraulic jack or car lift.

Here in the UK I have purchased an adaptor that fits into the jacking points for a trolley jack to protect the plastic trim, it looks like an ice hockey puck with a rectangular block on top. This means that the weight is taken on the solid part of the sill and not the plastic trim. Have a look on Ebay.

My '07 came with the full complement of tools including jack, and it didn't have a spare either. My '15 only comes with two tow hooks. If I had thought about it at the time I would have pulled the tool tray from my R56 and kept it for the F. Mistakenly assumed they would be similarly equipped. At least if you have the jack and lug wrench there's always the option of carrying a spare in the boot for long trips.

Wetsvette- Thanks but think I might cut up a hockey puck for $1! As far as the tool kit goes I'm thinking of buying the insert from ECS tuning for the Justa and getting a used jack. I think the one from the 2003 on should fit - has the same part # except it has a (-5) at the end. This way should be able to get the whole thing for $60 (or the price of 4 mounting points!)

I'm probably going to get a set of the jack pads since they can be permanently installed. They will work better if using jack stands or a lift too. I'll keep an eye out for a used tool kit also. In my shop I use a polyurethane disc on my floor jack, but my jack stands have a concave shape to them. With the jack pads that shouldn't pose a problem.

Do you know? I guess I can just call ECS too.

I can't say from personal experience but this site lists cars for that part number. Click on "Show" under product fitment/applications.

Maybe just a hockey puck is all you need? and maybe that piece that sticks up on the Ebay hockey puck thingy is just to locate it so it does not slide around..... I think the edges are designed to take the weight of the car the more I look at this. :-)
In addition and just to be clear - both my F56's came with those already on the car. I assume it is the same for you guys?

These look like the 4 stock jacking points already installed on the car. Surely, these don't take the load of lifting the car without another piece inserted into the recess.

Thats the jack point that comes up.

You can use the jack pad insert for a lift or floor jack. Please use a additional jack stand under the additional lifting point marked in the manual. Don't just trust a floor jack on its own and crawl under.

I would think the best way to use an automotive lift would be to have four (4) of those jack point insertion plugs then (like for use with a floor jack)? That's pricey.
I can't believe the dealers simply lift at all four points with the lift arms & nothing to protect those plastic jack points.
