Looking for advice to prepare for next winter
So I just bought my first mini about a month ago, 2009 JCW 65,000..Anyways I had been a little concerned about it handling our Minnesota winters. Well I got a taste of what to expect last week when we got a huge flash blizzard. The next day driving about I was hearing a scrapping noise, I parked and looked under the car and the plastic panel had been busted in by some snow and was dragging, well I got it over to my mechanic who lifted it and zip tied it up for now. Hopefully I don't have to deal with that again anytime soon but for next winter I'm wondering if it's possible to raise the ride height at all, some things I've read sound like it's possible with the jcw option. Also, would it be worth the $300 my mechanic quoted me to replace the plastic underpanel, from my understanding it's just a splash guard but the part that was torn showed only metal that matched my cars blue paint. So those who live in snowy states, what's your advice? Obviously I'm going to try not to drive it in extreme conditions but there will obviously be a day it will need to face some snow again.

I would get some dedicated snow tires/ wheels on the JCW you have one factory option:

On the underbody i would get this panel: I have ran it with snow on the ground.

What else was damaged ?

Do you really want to damage your front end?
If you want to be a plow to collect garbage of all kind, this is your choice.
Belly pans.........yes, they can be rip off and very expensive to replace.
