I suppose it could be a couple hundred pounds then. Still this car is 4.8 seconds 0-60 supposedly which is way faster than my JCW Coupe (with an ECU retune) which was like 6.2 and weighed 2600 lbs and I thought that car was plenty fast for me!

0 - 60 time is going to be all about traction. 4WD will be better at that. The GP3 is advertised as 5.1 Sec with the same engine and transmission. In a drag race, traction will be determined in part by the weight transfer and that is a problem for FWD. That is, the weight transfer is to the rear of the car and off the front wheels. Traction is lost and acceleration times slower. However, at speeds where the car is beyond the point of being traction limited (say, a drag race from 70 to 120 mph coming out of the Oak Tree turn at VIR and onto that long straight) the weight advantage of the GP3 will take over and it will be faster.

I did a little more checking. For race pad, Pagid shows the same pad for a bunch of BMW cars. This (below) is the pad for the F56 JCW, which says it also fits the M-135 (and fits the M2, M3 and M4 which is listed elsewhere). It seems that while rotors and calipers are different they have figured out how to use the same pad size/shape on all of these cars. According to RealOEM.com these cars all take a different pad part number but my guess is that is for different pad materials, not size/shape.

Thickness, if you take a BMW padset and take of some milimeters you have a JCW brakepads for halve of the price.

Bye Bye GP3.........

After 2 week, I got so fed up dealing with the sales people for a GP3 with Seattle MINI that I went to the BMW store to see what was available.

They offered me an M240I fully optioned with all accessories from the catalog (including performance exhaust) and over that I got the price I was asking for my Coupe plus financing at 0.9%.

I will have a far better car for my money. I will get it tomorrow.

Good luck with your new car. I still want the GP3, but minis marketing is the pits! I almost went over to the dark side for a Subaru WRX STI competition version, but decided to wait it out. I do love minis, they are fun mobiles.

Yup. I just said goodbye to my GP3 order as well. I can't in good conscience continue my loyalty to a company that has ghosted me so thoroughly over the last seven months, when I put my deposit down and was told "more information will be coming after the holidays". After the holidays indeed. All of this has been a great catalyst though to get me to make the jump to the brand I've been enamored with since my teens. I'm on the list for a 2021 Porsche Cayman GTS 4.0. It will make an amazing 50th birthday present.

MINI built my two favorite owned cars to date, a 2008 R56 JCW and a 2016 F56 JCW. I'll try to remember them just for that.

Good luck to all of you with more patience than I. I'm sure the GP3 will be absolutely epic when it arrives. If you happen to be driving one in the PacNW and a guy in a silver Cayman pulls up eagerly at the stop light, please forgive me for doing what I must.

This has been a long sad story of MINI dealerships around the country. Not sure why mine seems to be better than most, but glad it is given the stories some have been told. Wish you well with your Cayman. And, no, that won’t be me...

You are correct about minis abysmal marketing, but I am still barely holding on for the GP3. I already have my speed car for stoplights.

That should be a helluva car you got. I think it's way more practical then the GP3, I know my new one is.. How'd you do on the Coupe trade-in? I got $11k on mine which is sorta low, but I got $15k off list on the new model. Looks like price of your m240i BMW (base price) is the same as the GP3. Did they knock some off of that?

I got $11k for the Coupe from BMW dealer. Mini was offering $9K.

The M240I was $55K and I got off $15K in rebates, discounts and loyalty after negotiating for a week. I drove back home yesterday with no regrets...... also it has plenty of pops and burbles and very fast. No tune needed here.

That's a great deal and a great car Dube I erred in my post, I got $5k off the JCW (not 15k) so it actually cost me the same as your BMW did. ($40k) with the same trade amount for our Coupes. Ya did GOOD! Maybe I shoulda looked at the Beemer too right? But I'm really happy with the Clubman, it's plenty fast, looks great and I can use the extra room compared to the Coupe. And the adjustable dampers I really love. The Coupe's suspension was wearing me out lol.

Good news day, my GP is in build so could have it in 10 days to so. Just the longest wait as I sold my fJCW last October.

Congrats on the getting the GP!

And, it seems, some dealers are getting the “job” done right. MINI is clearly inconsistent in how they manage and oversee the dealerships across the US.

From my standpoint and the circus I have gone through to purchase a GP are beyond inconsistent. Bizarre, is a better definition concerning the GP3.

Im in the UK, and same as you folks over the pond. Communication has been shocking, random gifts around the globe, no paper brochure, honestly I despair, I won’t let that taint the delivery day but will book time in a week or so to voice my opinion.

I know this is a blog of mostly posts from the States, but pointing whoever you have this conversation with to this thread will clearly show that it is far more people than just you who are disappointed with the way MINI has mangled this.

On a closed course...

And using the YouTube time stamps (Ya, not real accurate, but ballpark).... 0-97 kph (60 mph) in a little more than 5 sec. And that didn’t look like a it was best it could do.

I want that display for my JCW...
For the tach if nothing else...
But, the speedometer is really slow to update. That shouldn’t be.

True! I still prefer the analog system I have with the chrono pack that I have in my JCW. It is not perfect and the lap timer is really useless, but I do like its location on the dash and it is right in my line of site. If mini would offer a heads up windscreen like I have in my C7 I would be elated, but the video got my blood pumping this morning! At least the car is fast, but the delivery time is abysmally slow!

https://www.ecstuning.com/Mini-2015-.../Braking/Pads/

looks to be 34106889266 is the pad shape and maybe just a different compound if it shares the F54 caliper.

Rear pads is it shares the rear F54 JCW caliper: https://www.ecstuning.com/Search/Sit...h/34216859917/

So someone who has one could throw in some EBC pads front and rear and try/.
