Description:

I bought this JCW for a couple of reasons, 1) It had the full JCW body kit which is rare to find and 2) it had already had the timing chain done.

My plan was to build it as a Sunday Funday canyon MINI without going too crazy by chasing power and instead make it as reliable as it could be without building the engine, whilst also improving the handling and grip. The interior was in great shape but the exterior paint wasn't the best with peeling lacquer in places and stone chips on the body telling the tale of its 102k miles. I didn't worry about this as I had planned to wrap it or indeed repaint it at some point. I would describe it as 'Nice from afar, far from nice.'

So my journey began with spending time fixing all the issues I knew would need attention at this age... all modifications have been completed within the last 1k miles and all with new parts from MINI by an experienced local shop:

Engine

Full Decoke
New Evolve FMIC
Replace sensors inc 02 & Map
New valve cover
New lower intake breather hose
New Interstate battery
New oil filter gasket
New oil cooler gasket set
New cooling hose
New seal ring
New turbo oil supply tube
New turbo oil return tube
New Catalytic Converter Gasket
Flush and install new Zerex G-48 Blue Antifreeze
Full service inc oil, plugs, filters
Check all bushes (nothing to replace at this time)

Whilst this work was completed the turbo was checked and given a clean bill of health. I also have the very rare JCW front strut brace but it won't fit on the car with the coilovers.

Wheels/Brakes

4 x Enkei RPF1 17x7 (43mm)
Federal 595 RS-RR Tires - 215/45/ZR17

Less than 500 miles on both wheels and tires, condition as new. The car will also come with a set of original R112 JCW wheels but with tires but these will need replacing. The condition of the rims is good, no cracks or serious defects. There is plenty of pad life left on all pads and the rotors are in great condition. I have a set of Goodridge brake lines and uprated brake fluid that have yet to be fitted and will be included in the sale.

Exhaust/Downpipe

Stock JCW system with cat. Pops and bangs are very pronounced with this exhaust so I'm wondering if it has been modified by a previous owner

ECU

From what I can tell the ECU has not been remapped by a previous owner as power seems consistent with a stock JCW. There are no error codes of any sort.

So in short, this now drives like a much newer MINI and all the potential trouble spots have been dealt with. I had planned to add an LSD and uprate the clutch and flywheel when they needed replacing but right now the clutch feels great and certainly has plenty of life so I'm assuming it was replaced previously. 

I do have some history on the car and old invoices showing servicing from MINI and some independents. Mechanically the car is tip top, uses very little oil, and certainly doesn't leak on the driveway. The engine pulls hard and strong right to the red line and the handling is fantastic with the new coilovers and setup. Talking of which I've set them up based on my previous track MINI specifically for canyon roads, see photo for settings. The ride is still fully compliant on the road and as you can see from the pictures the suspension hasn't been dropped too far, it's perfectly manageable day to day but fantastic in the canyons.

I have receipts for parts and labor for all recent work undertaken totaling over $6k and every new part can be considered 'like new' due to the low miles and only fair-weather usage.

I'm not in a hurry to sell so please no low ball offers, if it doesn't sell I'll happily keep it. Clean title in hand and clear carfax report, smogged June 2021 with no issues and I'll happily smog it again for the new owner. super clean! i'm curious though, you said it pops and bangs.. from what i know though, N14s on a stock tune don't pop and bang even with an exhaust?
