Straight Exhaust
If anyone is interested in experimenting with such a set-up, but doesn't want to hack-up their stock unit, I have just the piece for you (first photo, below)!
This, along with an inverted muffler, like a Borla Turbo and tip will get you straight out the back, with battery box removal of course...
50 bucks?
along with a muffler (about 100) and a tip ($50), one can have a very unique set-up for 200 dollars. Let me know. Doing some Spring cleaning, and trying to get rid of a few things...
FWIW, the extension welded on is 2.5". For those who have contemplated this mod, this is the cheap and "easy' way to see if it its for you... It was for me, and I purchased a 2.5" SuperSprint center pipe...

Both... It's a stock pipe, cut just after the bend into the more narrow tunnel. At that point, a few feet of 2.5" is welded on. My straight exhaust system was born from this as I had positive results...

You reckon correctly .
The whole catback, to very tip, is like 18 pounds. The stocker is something like 47 pounds. The battery box, about 9 pounds, if I recall correctly. So, it's almost a 40 pound savings...

Two questions...
How LOUD and DRONING is this set up? With only one turbo muffler and no resonator I can only imagine.
Second, where did you reposition the battery?
Cheers,
Jason.

That test piece that I sold here was replaced with the SuperSprint center pipe, with resonator (2.5"). I have photos somewhere on NAM, and for sure on MINI2 of the finished product, including db testing... The volume is not that bad, with the resonator, neither is droning. Randy Webb commented on a couple of occassions on how he liked the sound, and that it was no louder than the loudest aftermkt options. I think I have a photo or two in my Gallery of the battery... if not, a search on NAM (SLA or Braille battery) will reveal it... That saved me another 20+ pounds...
