So I know this may have been asked before, but last night I was searching oil change information and have been reading many opinions on getting the oil changed mid-way/between the "scheduled" oil changes. I wanted to know from the Mid-Ohio group what all your thoughts were on when or how often you think the oil should be changed.
Also - I am "garaged" challenged in the fact I have no garage to try to change oil myself ( arrgh - city living ) Any one NOT have the oil changed at dealer and know of a local shop who handles MINI's?

I change mine out at 7500, half way on the "service" interval ... I've had Lube Stop do my oil change last time as I was in a hurry , they HAD the Oil filter in stock , no troubles

 

I try to change mine every 7000 - 8000 miles.

 

Chuck and I discussed this once I think he changes his every night, but durring my free maintinance time I have just been going whrn the light comes on. Once I am out of that time (any week now) I am going to switch to my default which is every 5,000 miles. Why 5,000 well because it is easy to remember that when the first two digits are divisable by 5 the oil should be changed.

 

I change mine every 6 to 7 thousand miles. MINI says you can go far beyond that number, but I just can't bring myself to do that. If you've ever opened an engine up that hasn't had its oil changed enough you'd be on the short change cycle too. I used to be an every 3 thousand mile changer, but with synthetic I feel safe to 6 or 7.
