Poll :: October Photo Contest

Seem to have a few "I don't care about the rules" type posting.
As of Saturday, 402 times viewed (I haven't been checking in that much), 25 posted replies (again thanks), 50 people have voted.
Picture #1 has the most votes at 28, #3 has 15, #2 and #4 are way behind. I suspect #1 has a few friends.
lacning74 has a point. I need two elderly women hollaring "where's the DIRT?"
Dave, are these stats normal for photo contests?

Rules can be bent.... I mean come on, it's an online photo contest... And besides, there are only 5 (including Kurts) photo. Now, if there were 15-20 photo's where some of them were decent to chose, I can see where the rules would stand valid, as I would assume they should. If Kurt doesn't win, I honestly don't think anyone should... as wrong as that may be, sorry. The other photo's just don't appeal to me at all.

<peanut gallery enters>
It's not the write-in part that makes your vote worthless.
Better a late entry than a quick finish.
LMAO!
<peanut gallery forcibly removed by management>
My $.02:
1: Send Kurt, um, I mean mystery late (bad photographer, no memory card!) entry #5 a wreath of flowers, models to kiss him on the cheek and the gold cup which symbolizes victory in the hotly contested and coveted Motortober Photo Contest.
2: Send him to the PI thread for a good paddling by Clo.

#5 for me....
...if memory serves, my first win was technically a late entry...
I had planned to upload it on time, but work got in the way & I was a few hours late....I think

I looked at the entries a few days ago, and did not place a vote since none of the photos really grabbed me.
But Kurt's shot does, and so I must vote for "#5".

Just wondering if the admins are counting up the write in votes here? I believe the votes are close after the write in votes have been added up.
69 total poll votes cast (10/30 2pm PST) has to be an all time voting record low with the contest closing tomorrow.

I'm not a fan of being a hardass here, but here's the deal...
The contest is for those people that enter the contest. If you miss the submittal deadline, I'm sorry, but your entry is not in the contest. You must be entered to win. That is the only fair answer for the people that did follow the rules.
This is to take nothing away from the quality of Kurt's photo. I happen to really like it. I know Kurt has been a big contributor to the photo forum and I know he has a lot to be proud of with the way that photo turned out.
I liked it when I saw it posted back on October 3rd. Why it was not entered over the course of the next three weeks, I don't know. However, the fact is, that when the contest deadline came around, it wasn't entered and there had been plenty of time for it to be entered.
I recall back to when we started enforcing the rule about a photo being taken during the contest period and not just picking a photo out of their photo archives. There was a lot of uproar about doing that, but again, I think that is the only fair thing for the people who went out and shot with the topic in mind and followed the rules.
The next topic goes up on Thursday. The contest deadline, just like every month is noon pacific on the 25th of the month. The poll goes up sometime later that day, and runs until the 31st. We post the winner on the 31st or the 1st. FWIW, we have repeated that cycle 34 times now, with plenty more to come.

That picture was a practice shot. I wanted to evaluate the concept, and to inspire others to come up with something decent that related to the topic. The sunset in the entry is lame, by my standards. I was waiting for *tonights sunset... but no! Nothing happened all freakin' month! Then life's stuff kinda distracted me, and I blew it.
I really appreciate the support from everyone who did a bit more than click two buttons, comments say alot. This contest is to inspire us to go beyond our comfort zone (like figuring out how to not have the time stamp).
Congrats to #1. The dirt speck in my eye is.... makeigfh it had tp awee.

Thank you for the clarification Dave.
Well, someone has to be the hardass and it sucks to be you at times like this. Thank you for the time you invest in moderating here, I certainly appreciate it.
