Canon 400D / XTi

Canon appears to be ready to respond to the Nikon D80 with a 10 MP 3 fps D-SLR of their own. Body alone is expected to retail for $799, with the 18-55 it should go for $899.

Nothing on dpreview yet that I saw, but lots of news articles about the impending release.

Sweet... I have been looking to upgrade to the 30D, but I may have to check this out out as well, with the price being much more attractive :D

Yeah! I will hold my happy dance until dpreview gives it a thumbs up.

I'm waiting to see a comparison with the 30D to see what it is missing. Not that I could afford either but I'd really like to upgrade.

Matma - see if you can return the XT. it would be worth it for the upgrade to the xti.

and Kilo - before you even think of buying one go try it out and feel it. I don't like the feel of the rebel series DSLR cameras... the 20D and 30D feel great though. Something about the rebels I just can't place... but it feels like junk to me. I know a guy that has 2 XT's for his photo business... but he's sent them both back at one time or another. I'd spend the extra $ to get the 30D or a 20d body if you can find one body-only.

Yeah I'm with ya TRW. The Rebel XT is pretty much only acceptable to me with the battery grip. I assume the XTi will be the same/similar.

I still would love to get a 20D/30D instead, but we'll see... it all comes down to funds :D
