Absolutely beautiful . I was raised in Alaska, and forgot how pretty the northern lights are, thanks for the pics.

When I used to live in Alaska, we used to see them all the time, very cool.

Wonderful - thanks

We supposedly had the aurora low enough to see here in MA last year, but there was only a faint tint to the sky, nothing like these amazing colors!

I'm liking 11 the best, mostly because the car is more exposed. You might try taking a flash or a flashlight/lantern with you to paint the car with light so that some more definition of the car shows up and doesn't get lost in the shadows. Overall though, very nicely done.

I miss being in Canada. We have so much light popution here it's hard to make out very many stars.

fantastic! I've never seen the northern lights "in person"... would love to motor somewhere, someday in my mini and see them...

did you use a film camera for these shots or are they digital?

Hi Dave, thanks for this comment! I did try using my 430 EX in manual mode off the camera for shots 6, 9, 10, 11. But I have next to zero experience with artificial lighting and I threw away about 10 other shots with flash in it because they turned out pretty ugly. I will try to study what works and what didn't and do better next time

As for the camera, it is a 4 year old Canon D60 with a heavy tripod and cable release, most shots taken at ISO 800, 25-30 seconds, 12mm f/4.0, the Miky Way one was taken at ISO 800 120 seconds, 17mm f2.8.

Very, very, very cool!

I've seen them in person twice and I was totally amazed. Nice pictures - it's great to see something completely different!!

Those were incredible pictures!! The first time I saw the lights I freaked out and thought there was a UFO coming. It's magical.

Very nice shots. I love them. I'd love to see the lights some time. Agree w/ Dave, # 11 is great. I also like #5 a lot as well.
