I came across this at Amazon a couple of days ago. How's the book?

It reads a bit like a press kit and is written for the UK, but it has a lot of good information, trivia, and color photographs. It's a 160 page hardcover book and is under $20 on Amazon at the moment.

In England "Haynes" is the car maintenance bible; I was disappointed in this book that there is very little about maintenance.

But for a read, it is interesting, although Graham Robsons book is still the best for me.

Has this Collectibles Crowd settled in for a long winter's nap? It's been pretty quiet around here!!! Maybe we're gearing up for a major marketing spring?! Let's hope!!!!

Picked up a JCW'esque poster from the dealer today. There was a different one hanging on the wall but they don't have any of those; that one looked like the cover of the JCW brochure. The poster I got wasn't as hot as that poster, but still it's a poster, and it's free

Aloha folks-

I was at K-Mart yesterday on one of our neighbor islands, Kauai, and came accross a red/white Burago 1:18 scale 2001 Mini Cooper model kit. Has a nice American flag on the roof too.

I of course picked up both models that were left. What caught my eye is that the box listed 1999 as the production date and it listed the copy right/license under Rover Group. Also MINI was stated as Mini.

Must have been right at the Rover/BMW transition. Anyone seen these before? I'l post a picture later.

Aloha!

John - JCW04

Hi All! I finally got my beloved MINI back from the body shop at the dealer-whew!!! I'm glad that's over and hopefully no more deer!!! My bonnet stripes are different as they told me that MINI no longer makes plain white stripes so I now have white stripes with the black pinstripe on them. It's a change for me but no one else probably even notices!!! And can you believe no new goodies at the dealer when I went!!! I"ve been on a MINI marketing and collectibles dry spell and I don't like it!!!!!

Welcome to Susan!!! (She's a real collector, you all, and my my best ebay customer!!!!)

By the way, business (ebay-selling MINI ads)has been way, way down since all the trade secrets are out!!!! Oh well, that's ok!! It just pushes me harder to "hunt" for the older ads!!!!

Sorry...me again... I can't get all my thoughts straight when I need to...

Anyway, has anyone seen any print ads reguarding the Counterfeit MINIs? I'm assuming that there will be but I haven't seen anything yet.
Also, Ian or anyone who ordered the DVD have you recieved it yet? I ordered it when the site came out and although it stated that it might take 8 to 10 weeks I really didn't believe it but I still haven't gotten anything yet so that part must have been unfabricated info!!!

No.

I wonder if the long lead time is because they have no idea how many to make, so waited to see what the campaign did before ordering a run of DVDs ...

I'm not sure how many of you saw the post in MINI Talk about MINI in the comics. I checked it out and found that the MINI is in at least 4 different strips. As the strip is an online strip only, I printed out the strips and added them to my binder. Its a cool comic and looking at the MINI is fun too!!!!

Brent's MINI is in strips---April 23ed, 2004, April 28th, 2004, Nov.13th, 2004 and most recently-March 2ed, 2005.

Thanks
I must think there are other people who have owned at least three MINIs - Mike (OfficeMaven) for example, certainly if you count his & his wifes, and the reject one!
More significant there are folks with two at least and they have kept them - I only have one at a time

Does anyone know if there are MINI owners from other countries that are as obsessed with the marketing and collectibles reguarding their MINIs? I know that I periodically get a request to send an ad out of the States but not frequently.

I am sure there are ... I bought a PILE of stuff from someone in England a year or two ago - heaps of magazines with MINI reviews, dealership leaflets, etc, etc, etc. And if there is one person, there are probably many.

Thanks for the info, Ian! Maybe we should organize a group trade sometime!

Periodically I think about expanding my outside the USA MINI collectibles and marketing collection but...
And the other thing that I think about is how some of the old Mini ads have been used by MINIUSA as idea starters for their campaigns and maybe I want to collect older ads (for when I get my Mini!).

I could easily get even more carried away with collecting(more than I already am!) so I need to focus on what I need now to complete my collection and there's a lot!!!!

Hi All! I don't usually do this kinda thing but... this guy really frustrated me - There is a lot of 18 MINI ads for sale on ebay starting for a buck bid. I emailed the guy to ask for a list of ads ,as at this point I really don't need or want a lot of duplicates. He responded that the lot changes each time he lists and the list was too long for him to write out- I emailed back that I might be interested if I knew what I was bidding on and he responded curtly that the lot was only a dollar-what did I expect?! Arrrrr!!! So if any of you are going to bid, you may get a gem that I will loose out on but .... I feel that being nice to your customer is part of the sale so I won't be bidding!!

I'm stumped. I can't find this auction anywhere. I'd like to give him some heat too.

Thanks Chris! I thought that if I was vague... but:smile: it's a Lot of 15 Factory MINI Cooper ads - I'm not sure what the Factory part is... anyway... I said that any collector would want to know what they were bidding on but then I realized that maybe that's not true for someone just starting out but he made me mad just how he treated me,maybe it won't be the same for others-

Arrrr!!!! I'm venting again about this ad seller on ebay!!! Can you believe that I got another email from this guy, or gal stating--- I must have written something like...Not to be smart, but if you responded to your prospective customers, maybe people would be interested in bidding on your lot. So I got back this email today that said-- He Copied-Not to be smart... You don't have to worry about that...I 'd never think that you were SMART...guaranteed! Arrr!!!!! Just blowing off steam! I've met so many nice people buying, selling and trading ads that I can't let one bother me!!!

Have you all seen how much the MINI Dealer clipboard is going for on ebay?! I'm amazed!!! And it still has several days 'til the auction is over! I will say it's an item I've never seen but I think James might have one...He has all the goodies!!! We need to get some of the MA's that get the MINI stuff to get turned on to our collecting bug!
