Digging the red swap. I’ve always had a love/hate feeling toward the BMW amber instrumentation, although my R53 is getting old enough that it’s amber dash is beginning to have a cool ‘classic’ kinda feel
While the blue look damn cool, very well done BTW, it’s actually terrible on your eyes and visibility for night driving. Amber and red are best.
The blue really makes the warning lights pop!

Nice thread.
yeah I honestly did really like the orange color, but once I saw the orange lights on a black gauge I wasn’t as big of a fan...and I really don’t like the silver face, so I just had to change it up. Either way, I think it’s interesting!

hmm interesting, and good to know. I never had an issue with my previous cars that had this lighting. I will definitely try to compare once I have the car back on the road, but I’m also trying to balance both form and function with this build so I’m not terribly concerned.

lolllll I think I might have seen that....and I agree, his looks WAY better.
Not that I got very far with this car, but I ended up getting some interest in it and getting an offer too good to pass up. I ultimately sold both Minis, and bought a 2004 Audi TT Quattro instead. I actually really enjoyed this community during the short time I spent in it, so I may pop in from time to time, but I will be going back to VWVortex for the time being. I also do have quite a few suede wrapper interior pieces for both the R56 and R53, so I may list those on the classifieds if anyone is interested. Thanks for everything, and I'll leave you with a few shots of the new car!
Just to add to this, I purchased some wrapped interior pieces from Sam and the quality and communication was fantastic. Have nothing but positive things to say about this guy and his talents. To anyone looking to upgrade their interior, I would highly recommend. Thanks again, Sam!

Thanks Elias, I really appreciate the kind words!

Thanks, I had a MK4 VW back in the day, so it feels a bit more familiar to me. I am definitely glad I snagged one of the 225s, but I still might pick up another motor to build / clean up for the time being. I know they have forged pistons / crank, but I wouldn't mind upgrading the connecting rods and valves for a little extra security!
