Armrest Kit by MINI
Category: Interior
Price: $200
Private or Vendor Listing: Private Listing
Part fits (you may select multiples): R50, R52, R53
Location (Region): SoCal
Item Condition: Used
All pieces are in very good condition. Many pieces of this kit are NEW (left of the tape measure line), and some are used (right of the tape measure line). Although new, the main anthracite piece has a small scuff (pictured) that is barely noticeable. The padded piece is in very good condition, but underneath is missing one plastic tab (pictured). As such the padded piece does not “click” shut like it should but this padded cover aligns just fine and does not de-rail. Upon hard acceleration the lid may slide open. If this has the potential to bug you, options are (1) to buy a replacement padded lid (I have part number available – I priced it at $129 today from Long Beach BMW MINI); (2) create your own latch stop (Velcro? Make and super glue a tab?); or (3) permanently affix the pad in place (there’s not much storage inside anyway).
A steel adaptor plate (about the size of a business card - pictured lying on top of the tape measure line) is needed if your MINI was built before 04/2004. If your MINI does not require this adaptor, I will keep this part.
There are two styles of plastic trim at the rear of the armrest where it pivots. The kit I’m selling has the two pieces needed for convertibles. If you own a hardtop, the pieces I’m including will leave a small gap approximately 4.5” x 2” behind the replacement console (example pictured). If this has the potential to bug you, your options are: (1) create something else to cover the gap; (2) buy the 2 plastic trim pieces needed for hard top installation. (I priced them today at the same MINI dealer at $17 each).
I believe in full disclosure. That is why I’m providing so many details. One thing I’m sure of, the replacement console fits perfectly for hard tops. Since I’m not familiar with convertibles I’m not sure if the replacement console is too long, too short, or just right. A silver armrest w/ console is pictured installed on a hard top (as a sample) so potential convertible owners can compare fit.
A new kit sells for about $290 (plus tax and shipping). I’m asking $200 plus shipping from my zip code 90242 (Downey, California). You may pick up from me in Downey, or in Downtown L.A., or some mutually agreed upon location. I will be at DIY Day this Sunday 7/14/13 at Motoring Magic (MINI specialist) in Thousand Oaks, CA and will bring the armrest kit for possible swap meet sale.
Payment via PayPal preferred. Service charge on you. I have learned that if your PayPal account is linked to your bank (not credit card) then you can avoid the service charge.
Send me a PM if you have questions or need additional pictures. Thanks for looking.

It's available as of 7/17/13
Thanks for the inquiry. At the SCMM club event with swap meet, I inadvertently NEVER set out the boxed armrest kit nor a MINI messenger bag I'm selling (long story). At the end of the event, I realized these two items were never on display. The shop owner (host) said people are often looking for such items, that he could help me find a buyer if I leave the items with him. So, the arm rest kit is at Motoring Magic in Thousand Oaks, CA - for sale on my behalf, $200. I can retrieve it anytime. (It's about an hour drive from me - 56 miles one way.) Interested?
