Whole Car (Salvage Title)

Category: Drivetrain
Price: $3000
Private or Vendor Listing: Private Listing
Part fits (you may select multiples): R50, R52, R53
Location (Region): SoCal
Item Condition: Used

My '04 R53 took a recent hit on the front end; insurance decided it was better to total it, so I bought it back with the hope that someone would want to buy the whole thing and either part it out yourself, or move some of these parts over to your own project. It has ~108K on the clock, engine and trans (6-speed Getrag) are perfect; no leaks (because of recent crank PS O-ring and cam PS O-ring), no noises. Just returned from a 2000-mile trip with zero issues, car got over 31mpg the whole trip. Just passed smog last week. I know that the engine, trans and wheels/tires alone are worth $3,000.

Airbags did *not* blow - they are fine.

I'm not interested in selling off the parts. This ad is for the whole car, including salvage title.

The hit was high and took out the hood & hinges, A/C condenser (slightly bent, but not broken or opened up), fan housing, radiator and core support (front crossmember), upper frame extensions (where the core support mounts to). Headlights are okay, bumper cover is unharmed. The aluminum bumper may need replaced, depending on what you think. Upper frame (RealOEM calls them "engine supports") may be tweaked, but can't tell for sure. If so, slight but fixable.

Here's the good stuff:
108K engine & trans, new 15% pulley (Cravenspeed), Alta adjustable short-shifter; new OEM crank dampener/pulley, new upper engine mount, new belt & tensioner, rebuilt pass side axle (see complete suspension upgrade list below)...

M7 strut bar & tower braces

OEM Xenon self-leveling headlights; updated FL taillights

Kumho Ecsta tires have exactly 11,126 miles on them; mounted on ROTA RB WHEELS 17X7.5, 4x100 OFFSET: 40 HB:56.1 HYPERBLACK WITH POLISH LIP. Wheels are new since May '16 (RR wheel has minor curbage on it, should be an easy repair)

Drilled/slotted brake rotors, new pads & sensors (all less than a year old)

Curt hidden trailer hitch, bar & ball (never got a chance to pull anything with it )

Completely removed the H/K audio system and replaced it with: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...omponents.html (note: Clarion mini amp and/or Sirius module may or may not be included)

Here's the complete list I provided to my insurance of the repairs/improvements since May '16. I have receipts for everything:
5/9/2016 trailer hitch 119.42
5/9/2016 hitch ball arm 25.76
5/16/2016 hitch wiring (U-Haul) 43.55

5/10/2016 new wheels 655.00
5/10/2016 wheel locks 25.76
5/13/2016 new wheel install (America’s Tire) 64.00

5/21/2016 belt tensioner 92.78
5/25/2016 reduced S/C pulley (no record) 100.00
5/25/2016 adjustable shifter (no record) 60.00
5/31/2016 shifter, belt & tensioner, pulley install labor (Mini Corsa) 493.60

6/21/2016 Engine Mount (pass side) RMEuropean 80.79

6/18/2016 rear hatch lock (Mini of Universal City) 65.40

6/21/2016 Pass door lock actuator (new, eBay) 75.00

7/25/2016 Throttle Controller 80.00

7/27/2016 crank pulley, belt, labor (Mini Corsa) 596.73

8/8/2016 interior chrome kit (WMW) 50.00

8/23/2016 Installation Labor (for parts below) 650.00
rebuilt OEM right-side axle 75.00
strut mounts (R&L) 90.47
lower control arm bushings 198.99
Front engine mount 80.79
Tie rod ends 56.72
Front hubs/bearings 79.25
Ball joints – inner (2) 50.78
Ball joints – outer (2) 41.33
Pwr steering hoses (2) 77.20
Sway bar bushings 25.54
Rack & pinion bushing 17.58

8/24/2016 post repair alignment 76.49

9/6/2016 CA Smog inspection 50.00 (passed, no problem)

There's also a 3-spoke steering wheel with control buttons; chrome trim ring kit; CF shifter ****; battery's about a year old; Ian Cull "double-tap-up" window module; doors area great, glass (tinted) is great; cloth seats are all great; D1 Spec throttle controller is already sold...

I'm sure there's more stuff that I can't remember at the moment. Car starts, runs & drives (to get it on and off the wrecker flatbed). See my sig pic of what it looked like before the accident. Pics of damage below.

If you're curious about the cost of fixing it, I can show you the repair estimate (which is ridiculous for labor charges) for over $6K. That's less than $1,500 in parts, plus paint and possible frame alignment. If I had the space and time to fix it, I would.

If you happen to change your mind on selling parts, am interested in the Ian Cull auto window module.

Somebody should buy and save this car! It's in great shape and has lots of cool aftermarket stuff. Screw the salvage title- it's time to start saving R50's and R53's or there won't be any left. I'm buying a Lotto ticket on the way home!

Absolutely!

I'm happy to report I have a sale pending - to another NAM-er! Very happy the car is going to someone who knows what it is and what it's worth.
