Here's an 03 R53 that supposedly has a blown engine. Body looks to be in good condition and it's at $1k. So if you have a rusty shitbox with a good engine and better seats, this could be a good swap.
^^^ Am I missing something here or has fact-checking gone awry? I spotted that new CL ad 27 hrs ago and promptly did a VIN lookup which revealed that car was born as conventional MCS with no JCW parts content whatsoever. It's a looker though.
These cars live in the space between the 2006 factory JCW and the 2009+ factory JCW. They use the old-style JCW logos which is one way to identify them.
It was a dealer installed kit, just like the 2002-2004 R53. Even the F56 has the option for a dealer JCW kit.
These are JCW tuned cars (or more properly “MINI Cooper S with JCW Tuning Kit”), they are just not “factory JCW”.

Wondering if anyone knows the year the R109 wheels were first released by MINI?
Were they a ‘JCW Catalog’ offering only ... or a regular order item that could be added to a customer build-order delivered from the factory with these wheels?

Avoid Carvana at all cost. There is a good chance they don't even have that GP2 available. They use attractive car ads to get customer information, once customers place the order, they'll tell you something's wrong and they can't deliver the car. Then they put the car back on their site to get the next customer to submit their information. They've been doing practice for a while and customers are complaining about this on their Yelp, Instagram and Reddit.
