$4k for an '05 JCW in Springfield IL with 114k miles... Why would one be priced this way with decent miles? Am I missing something or should I go pick it up? No engine pics but other than that, it looks pretty clean. Looks like some holes in the bumper maybe from lights?

https://springfieldil.craigslist.org...201004984.html
as for the car it self, it looks like a basic Cooper S with a few options added. What I can tell from the pictures is that it it likely has the premium package (which included HK audio and sunroof) and Sport package (the S-lites were the std. sport package wheels) to go with a dealer installed JCW package. A la crate options look like just the chrome line interior and exterior. It also looks like a rare Euro Parcel Shelf has been added to the drivers side.
as for the JCW kit, the pictures only show the exterior badges, but they are located in the dealer installed, correct locations. Unfortunately, it looks like the JCW exhaust has been replaced (or at least the tips). If the exhaust was replaced, I would say it is likely other JCW parts have been replaced with aftermarket (like the air intake).
Still, for $4k it may be worth a look.

Very sweet looking electric blue 05 JCW with full aero kit. Oddly enough, though a dealership car with tons of pics, no interior or engine. wtf. Anyhow, $10k with 100k miles, pricey. I wouldn’t pay more than $8.5k but that’s just me.

That said, I'm wondering if I jumped the gun on getting this JCW...It was a bit of a compulsive purchase, as the car was only 3 miles away, and was owned by friend of somebody on our BMWCCA board (of which I'm the treasurer).
Firstly, I *really* like dark green (metallics especially), and although I've had a couple of other red cars over the years, the only red car I really want is a carburated Euro spec Ferrari 308 GTB (pipe dream LOL!). Again this MINI is actually quite the looker in red with the white accents, but I'm just not a huge red fan either...and dammit, that BRG JCW that was in Canada...OMG.
Secondly, I already have a loaded 2021 Rebel Green JCW sunroof delete/DDC delete on order, and it's literally about to get loaded onto the boat. Certainly, I'm going to put some money into that car too, with JCW coil overs, aftermarket wheels, tires, etc... and I think the R53 would sit in the corner of the garage for a while before I get around to working on all the little things it needs (I have a list already started on ECS tuning).
The '06 JCW just passed through AZ smog yesterday and I got insurance on it too, but still haven't registered it yet. So just throwing this out there - if anybody was interested in this car that didn't get the info they wanted from the previous seller (he was an older gentleman, nice but not very knowledgeable on these cars as he's really a Corvette guy), I may entertain an interested buyer's questions and see if I can find a more worthy owner than myself. I'm not looking to make a buck here, just get back what I've got into it. If not, that's fine too, it will be a red & green Christmas 1st gen/3rd gen JCW photo shoot!
Anyway, if anyone has interest on this JCW, please PM me.

MC40 bargain in need of major restoration...
2004 MCS MC40
130k miles
$1,500
https://bloomington.craigslist.org/c...212614769.html
Adcopy:
The good:
*Eaton M5 Supercharger-this car is fast AF and lots of fun to drive
*After market racing exhaust manifold
Racing air intake
-Interior is in excellent shape
-Stylish red and black recaro
leather-no rips or tears
-Yellow high beam fog lights
-Aux input
The bad:
-Clutch is slipping
-Coolant leak
-Power steering leak
-Headliner sagging
-Trunk lid strut doesn’t work so you have to hold it up
-Headlight out (it’s a “specialty” headlight)
-A/C doesn’t work
Hate to see it go, but just don’t have the time to repair it.

Possible slicktop?
Hard to tell from photos and lack of descrip:
https://medford.craigslist.org/ctd/d...215246138.html
Some neat tweaks and love the GOK4RT license plate!
Orciari style scuttle vents are marmite but I think they look pretty neat, aero skirts + grill, GP replica gauge faces.
Dealer website has a higher asking price,
but includes engine photo:
https://www.clearchoiceautomotive.ne...ooper/69806032
Sunroof not mentioned in options so maybe it is a slicktop.
Funnily, they did list a rear spoiler but it has been deleted on this car which is rather unusual.
Okay,
they have a CarGurus listing too which included the VIN so quick lookup confirms it is not a slicktop, has a sunroof. Also confirmed that it is a Canada-market car which I was wondering because maple leaf sticker, it was originally fitted with km/h speedo.

Gheezh, it's disgusting to see somebody who knows they have a special edition MC40 just drive it into the ground. But man, I just paid over a third of their asking price just for the stupid OEM rally lights! What an epic part out (or restoration project) that would be. The CF dash panels, rally lights and switch panel specifically. There's a set of the needed anthracite R90's on eBay for the same cost as the car, without tires! And there's gotta be at least $7 in change in those cup holders!
That Pure Silver JCW is really nice too, would love to have that black heated interior.

I've always wondered why someone wouldn't do a cursory cleaning before taking pix when trying to sell, but hey whatev.
It's a bummer that most R53 JCW stuff is now NLA --- I was somewhat lucky to get in on the tail end of it so I did get an aero grill but I should've bought one for backup. Had no clue they'd be gone-gone ghostworld. Luckily due to my incompetence of install on the door sill strips (not shaving fasteners which causes a *bump* in appearance) had to order another set and now they're NLA...
https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...h/51710305557/
They were meant for the aero side skirts which are totally flat, so if you installed on stock skirts without sanding down the slightly raised plastic fasteners then you'd get a proud little bubble,
actually glad I messed up so have a spare now! LOL
They still pop up every now and then,
I love NAM classifieds!

I bought the front and rear bumper($400) little rough under the front (to be expected) and without support brackets, I’m gonna have fun tracking those down lol, someone pm me if you know a guy. They’ll eventually go on this little gem (06 JCW) that took me two years to find. My addiction to CL finally paid off. Was on this one within 4 hours of being posted. 52k miles, Owner 1 2006-2008 owner 2 2008-2020 owner 3 me. Still smells new. piano black dash w/chrome line (so classy) HK sound, unmolested besides coil overs, and a few other bits. Literally stole it, I feel bad. Not sure if I’ll de value it with the aero bumpers, but I’ll definitely keep all original parts removed. Also needing aero side skirts and upper mesh grille, but they’re a little easier to find. Got an OEM gauge pod for center console once I relocate the speaker for the ancient Motorola T605 Bluetooth install when new. Somebody stop me.
I can relate to the prolonged search, it took me a good while to find a slicktop JCW, turned out to be a 2006 too but it had 99k miles at the time, now at 135k since I got it in April 2018.
You scored a gem for sure!
Low miles and looks to be cherry indeed.
Plus rare Seven surface interior...
...and anthracite headliner too!
Both those options were $200 each and both are somewhat rare.
Sweet!

CL help request
If you're willing, you might be able to help. Our B-Spec team is expanding from two cars to four or more cars. We are on the constant lookout for N12 and N16 engines and non-LSD manual transmissions in the Northeast and Central Texas areas (and sometimes East and Midwest areas depending on our racing plans). We've purchased cars and parts from recyclers and auctions, but these outlets tend to be more expensive than cars and parts we've purchased on CL. For example, we recently purchased a complete, running 09 Clubman that had been sitting for a couple years because the owner lost the key fob and the title. The cost was only $500...(and no, it wasn't a stolen car). Those deals don't come along very often, but cars with flood damage, fire damage, accident damage, etc. are out there. A key indicator is whether or not the car was running before the damage.
I don't want to hijack this thread - I've subscribed for a long time and enjoy reading about choice MINIs that are available for sale. If your CL browsing turns up something that you think we might be interested in, you can shoot me a PM if you want. I'd really appreciate it. Lastly, you might be surprised to know that our racing team is not a money-making venture, so if you provide assistance it would go to MINI enthusiasts like you.
If you want to know a little more about SCCA B-Spec, it is a class that is expanding because it offers driver centric racing at a reasonable cost. Any non-turbo or non-supercharged first or second Gen MINI is eligible....although we're only aware of R56's at this time.

Not really a good deal as it will likely go bigbig bucks as all the OG NLA R53 JCW stuff seems to be escalating drastically in value,
but here's a factory original R53-correct dashtop shift light on ebay:
