JCW Equipped MC40
It seems has the JCW engine package in it.... but not the Aero kit installed.
Has the window sticker but does not have the JCW document.
Heres some pics I got from him for the under-hood. Besides the CAI...Looks good...He does NOT have the removed factory airbox parts though.
That could be an excellent deal vs the cheaper ones as this one still has the magnetic numbers, GB, and most of the decals and hopefully a plaque.

Could be ....
Very well could be... or could be the other 210 version ... good info for someone to check out an MC40 that is a NON rusted Cali example WITH a JCW engine that, regardless of 200 or 210... will be an amazing car for low money with a little TLC !!
Either way... better than the NON-JCW package that most of the MC40's have
Love this thread !!

If I wanted to buy this, it wouldn't bother me one bit that the airbox was missing as I would assume it didn't come with one to begin with.

Great info Burley... thanks for the education (sincerely) didn’t know that about the tune ... sounds pretty darn doable to me, even today 😎
. I agree about the air box ... put it back to stock for low money !!
200 HP JCW in a 2004 R53 is the definition of a ‘bulldog’ of a car IMO .
I get the impression he knows what he has... but is open to offers as long as they are not ‘lowballing’
to me... this in rusted Cali car with miles on it is worth more, to me, than a low mile rust-belt example ... oven if it is just ‘light rust’ or undercarriage rust...
sweet cars ... plus, I like that the graphics are magnetic and not permanent 🤙

When the JCW 210HP kit came out MINI also released a separate JCW 200HP update kit which consisted of the missing JCW airbox, 380cc injectors and updated tune.

EDIT: actually, it has "Ricardo" seats... I hope Ricky and Lucy didn't design them in the 1950s...

There has always been a lot of aftermarket options which are a lot cheaper than the JCW items with the same or better performance. Now that most of the JCW items are NLA or even higher in price, it’s definitely not worth it to go with new JCW unless that’s what you really want.
I understand wanting to stay JCW and that’s what I’ve done so far, but it was also done when the parts were available and prices were a lot more reasonable. I have everything, including the tune, but I’m still looking for a good used JCW head to complete my “JCW”
If I had to do it again today I would go with a DIY “dave f”/stealth airbox with an Amsoil nano filter and the 380cc alternative (Volvo??) injectors or 440 or 550cc aftermarket injectors. For the ECU, I think some aftermarket tuners have the JCW tune but it’s not even worth it once you change the sc pulley or add a header. The JCW is basically a canned tune so you might as well go aftermarket if you don’t already have it.

The upgrade kit shows NLA and the injectors are about $220 each. About 5 years ago I heard the new dealer computers could no longer communicate with ECU’s and possibly other computer modules on 1st gen cars. Plus, a lot of dealers wouldn’t flash an ECU without the kit.

Aftermarket has your back for far less. If you have a 200hp JCW and want to keep it stock for resale value, just keep the 200hp kit, you wont notice a huge difference. Best bang for the buck performance mod will always be a pulley reduction and/or tune, both of which are easily reversible on a JCW and keep the stock appearance. The Amsoil filter is a great choice btw, no oil to get all over the sensors.

Looks super clean! Wow 180K miles for $5K+ and needs a clutch --- the JCW market is definitely on the rise.

How in the world did they keep the fabric seats so clean? Ive seen far worse with 20k miles.

Exactly, needing a clutch is a REALLY good negotiating point. If most of the other maintenance has been followed, with a car this clean its probably sorted pretty well, I’d start at $4800 and see if comes down a bit. If so, it’s a really solid car for the money. If it wasn’t red, and I was still looking, I’d do some inquiring.

We all have our weak points. I'll pass on this, but if it was an Indie/Electric Blue JCW, chrome grill w/ driving lights, chrono, english leather, with a sunroof I might think twice. My first MINI was an Indie Blue R50 w/ chrome (no driving lights). I surprised my wife shortly after we were married, with the car and a x-country road trip 10 min into ownership. We had it shipped to Honolulu and I only sold it because I lost my job during the last recession in '08. I shipped it over from Kansas, and left it with some lucky SOB.
Hyper Blue and Indi Blue can look very close in pics, but it has face lift headlights and a pre-face lift bumper and grille surround which makes it hard to tell. My favorite color was Indi Blue, but I wanted a face lift R53 and Indi Blue was discontinued after '04.

That's a great looking R50, but is that a picture of your '03 or '06?
