Hard pass for me too due to the reality of circumstance, but if I had mad fab skills (alas I do not) and a killer workshop (sadly lacking) then I'd surely consider it just as a platform for something fun and wacky...
...like maybe it'd be a good starting point for a speedster thing!

That home made roadster on the bottom was quite a build.
Hand made / fabricated rear deck took some work.
I remember reading about that build in Modern MINI magazine.
Not sure I'd would want the monumental task of removing the wiener every time I needed to raise the bonnet....I already swear when having to remove GP intercooler to access spark plugs.... Do they even have Hot Dogs in the UK ?

I was thinking bangers 'n mash but them ain't quite right because sausage, however it does appear that Brits do hot dogs these days...
...speaking of England,
I'm jealous that so much good stuff pops up on ebay.co.uk with a simple search of R53 JCW --- we don't get nearly as much on the US ebay it seems.
Just right now there's a guy breaking parts from a GP:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/383926003062
.
And seeing cars fitted with those awesome seats we never got:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/373443921447
.
Rare things show up quite regularly...
...and aero side skirts seem to be quite plentiful too, but few willing to ship such bulky items internationally and if they are willing the parcel prices are astronomical.

ONLY if... it came with the JCW Aero kit, English Leather seats, Anthracite headliner, Cockpit Chrono and every toggle switch (no stinkin' blanks!)! I'd let the R95s or R98s requirement slide this one time.

Low mileage car at a dealer.
In my opinion, this is an example of low mileage not meaning much because age related wear is apparent.

This one is pretty cool, I'd deffo go for the SSR's tho because 5 spokes are not my cuppa.
2004 MCS
86,543 miles

For sale is my 2004 Mini Cooper S. The car has a supercharged 1.6L 4 cylinder engine and 6 speed manual transmission. I am the second owner of the car and have taken great care of the vehicle. I bought it with some of the modifications already done and I added some myself.
On the vehicle when I bought it:
Upgraded clutch (don’t know any specifics on it but much heaver than a stock clutch)
Alta 15% supercharger pulley
Alta cold air intake (I installed a new filter)
MSD Ignition coil and plug wires
Oil catch can
EBC Red Stuff brake pads front and rear with plenty of life left
Milltek resonated cat-back exhaust
M7 front strut tower brace
Hotchkis competition rear sway bar
Black metal front grills
Added under my ownership:
Brisk 1 step colder spark plugs
Alta lightened crank pulley 2% larger
New serpentine belt was required with the larger crank pulley
Alta tensioner stop
Raceland Coilovers with ECS coilover install kit
ECS 8mm wheel spacer kit in the front
ECS 15mm wheel spacer kit in the rear
15% tint around entire car with 50% on windshield
Brand new Toyo All Season tires on 15 inch wheels
Black plastic snap on covers for door handles and gas cap
Smoked side markers by the “S” badges
New valve cover gasket and front crankshaft seal (both 2k miles ago)
OEM Mini black “Cooper S” badge on hatch
I am sure I am forgetting stuff but thats a good idea of what the car has.
Car runs and drives good, just looking for something a little more reliable and that gets a little better MPG. The car has a clean carfax, no accidents, damage, or odometer issues. I am the second owner and bought it a little over a year ago.
This car is from 2004, cosmetically it is not perfect. There is a chip in the driver side of the windshield (pictured). The black paint on the roof is in very good condition, the silver paint has a lot of scratching on it. The car looks great from 10 feet away but up close you can start to see all the scratches. The interior is is really good condition besides the driver seat seam broke open. A small portion of the foam has worn away but the seat still fully holds you in place. The headliner is also sagging some in a few spots, but it’s not that bad. Everything works on the car (including the heated seats and sunroof) besides the driver door lock actuator. It locks/unlocks with the key in the door, but not from the key fob. The key fob does lock/unlock the passenger door though. Just recently the TPMS light started flashing. It is monitored off the wheel speed sensors, not actual sensors in the wheels so I'm not sure what is wrong.
If the ad is still up, the car is still for sale. Email me with serious questions/inquires.
I am trying to think of everything you need to know about the car, I don't want you to show up and it not be the car you think it is.
If you would like the black 17 inch wheels that are in the last picture, we can work out a price for them. They are SSR Type C 17x7.5 that were powder coated black in 2020. Tires are 215/45R17 Continental DWS06 with over 50% tread left. With the spacers, the wheels fit as flush with the fenders as I could get.

Just clicked it today while going through this thread,
looks like sale is pending now.
If it was a slicktop it'd be my ideal spec.
I've seen quite a few examples with the 7 surface option where they checked the chromeline interior option as well (thus deleting the anthracite trims) and that always bums me out because I greatly detest the glaring chrome trims, plus as far as I know (am I wrong? please correct me if so) the anthracite tachometer trim was only available in the US in 2005-2006 with the 7 surface option so it seems to be slightly rare over here.
Looks so good!

it sat there for 2 days with no action and the wife doesn’t agree with getting rid of the clubby for a r53. really had thoughts when it popped up of just driving up there and trying to deal. But, with everything done in preparation of MOTD this year, minus swapping of tires, I just couldn’t bring myself to do it. And the one in Columbus above also peaked my interest, would be a nice project for the daughter and I, and maybe her first car.
I liked how honest and forthcoming the Columbus seller was with his description, and seems he would likely be open for offers too.
Would make a great project indeed.
Loving the commentary so far!
That's what makes BaT such a cool place I think, lots of knowledge drops in the many comments, even on the most obscure of obscure marques you can pick up interesting tidbits by reading, and even the silly banter is fun too.
Makes it a lively joint as well as an informational archive.
Compare that to the rather dull UK equivalent where it lacks commentary...

Hemmings sometimes gets neat stuff...

They do have comments though so that's cool.
Once they had an R53 too:

carsandbids has been sort of disappointing and seemingly slow to grow, but it has good commentary and fills a sorta neat specific niche.
Must admit that if Focus RS came in 3dr I'd be very very tempted to get one, but I am religiously against 5dr hot hatches and will stand firm in my hatred for them...
https://carsandbids.com/auctions/KD1...-ford-focus-rs
...so sad and angry that US spec FiSTs & FoSTs only came 5 door,
so Ford can kiss my S!

Yeah for some reason I thought all Bipostos had the dogbox. Still an awesome car that had no logical reason to exist. I love the Italians.

+1!
Indeed a sweet JCW in rare color.
Seems like a cool seller too.
Question:
was Royal Grey first developed for use only on the Park Lane and then carried over as an option?
Here's a viddie which shows the color a bit better:
I love those custom oldskool Smiths style custom gauge faces on the car featured in the vid,
they look to be very thoughtfully done with neat details.

Park Lane edition was never formally sold in the US, but that car is pretty much the exact spec (minus the dash). Both Royal Gray and silver roof options were in 2006 only, making this very rare. The color reappears a few years later on the R60 and R61.
