Seems like that has good potential if you can get it at a reasonable price. Any reason why whole car was recently repainted? Didn't see where the ad said he had a brand new door included... That certainly helps.

Yep, seems like all the good deals are always in Cali. where lots of the high dollar gen1 MINIs are. LA and SF had the biggest sales back in the day when i talked to MINI corp in 2005, 2006 at MTTS.
Chi town and NYC metro where right behind, next to FL.
Hope someone picks up that SF r53 here.

+1!
Indeed a sweet JCW in rare color.
Seems like a cool seller too.
Question:
was Royal Grey first developed for use only on the Park Lane and then carried over as an option?
Here's a viddie which shows the color a bit better:

I love those custom oldskool Smiths style custom gauge faces on the car featured in the vid,
they look to be very thoughtfully done with neat details.

I remember the park land style, it had a center piece that kind was like a CF design dash in the center, Cool edition.

03 S JCW? 27k miles $21,999

$1,000 cheaper on the dealers site:
https://www.billcollinsford.net/used...8156e488ba.htm
Still quite pricey, but people seem to love the low mileage examples and pay the big bucks.
From the Lot Hopper site:
I love that option!!!
Think they quoted weight for an R50 there?

To each their own... For minimum of 15 year old car (R53/50).. regardless of miles... It's not like your are going to avoid the age-related issues like shocks, seals, rubber suspension components etc in a 'low mile' example. And need to do work on it if you are going to drive it...or park it with the dream of ROI.
I've been seeing original-motor Gen 1 and Gen 2 (N18) cars going well over 200,000 miles when taken care of... and still running strong.... and without major stuff like valve jobs. Sure they need timing chains changed out at an predictable interval... but heck... what do cars with timing BELTS need for intervals. Original top/bottom ends going 200k + miles... good in my book... means that at 100K miles, a well taken care of R53/56 could be viewed as half it's life in terms of motors.
I'm as concered with TIME/AGE as I am with miles....
A 30k mile car that has been driven on rough country roads will have more 'rattles' and loose panels than a 150K mile example driven on smooth roads.
I've looked at a lot of Minis to buy... many of the low mile (sub 50k) had worn out motor mounts, suspension bushings, shocks etc... the same as well driven 100k-mile examples.
Its all about the INDIVIDUAL car and its circumstances/histor/owner(s) ....
I think the Best MINI-Brand "Good Deals on CL" , which is the topic of this thread.... these days, have north of 100K miles on them.
Ponderings

I share your viewpoint mountainhorse with regard to age-related wear and you make a very good point.
My intentions are to drive this R53 until the wheels fall off --- I drove a 1986 Saab from 1991-2018 and I tend to be a longterm owner, so see no problems with keeping the R53 on the road. My only concern is the techno computer related stuff but the mechanicals don't scare me at all.
I'd much rather buy a well-maintained high mileage car rather than a low mileage trailer queen that has just sat around unused, bonus points when bought from an enthusiast who has already complete the prerequisite restomods...
...in my case I bought mine in April of 2018 at 99k and the previous owner had already done much of that stuff to it so I had no worries, right now sitting at 142k and soon enough I expect to see 200k!
One of the best things in my book about the JCW that Jonny found is the location of the car, it would be such a fun ride getting there to pick it up and drive it home!
Punched the addy in my Calimoto app and yes yes yes,
thems the kinda roads I like going!

I have long ago learned to levitate when entering and exiting every car I own. As though no one ever sat in the car It’s just a habit I don’t even have to think about anymore.

From finding photos of it elsewhere, it does appear to have a JCW kit (the 200hp kit rather than the 210hp kit)
