Does your MINI have a need for mountain roads, curves & passes? Then your MINI is invited to participate in an epic drive this summer. The 1st running of MINI Many Passes will take place June 28, 29 & 30th 2011.

Have you ever wondered just how many mountain passes there are in Colorado? Ever thought of driving over all the paved ones.......all in one drive?!! I have! And I have put together a route that crosses every 9,000ft and higher paved road pass in Colorado, of which there are 35, covers over 2,000 miles of superb mountain roads and will take 3 long days to complete.

What is the route planned?

 

Still looking forward to doing this drive. May push date back 1 week to June 21 -23? Starting point will be Trinidad, finish @ Bergen Park. Last pass will be Squaw pass.

 

Personally, a weekend would be better for me, as I would only need to take one day off work. I think I could do the 21st-23rd, though.

How many others have shown interest?

 

As of now it looks like I am alone in this drive. The dates are flexible, I was looking at midweek for less traffic but if you are able to come we could go anytime late June. This is the trial run I hope to make it into an annual or every other year kind of drive. There is nowhere in the US (or North America) that a concentration of high passes exists like in CO so I think it would be a cool and unique drive!

 

You should put a post in the MINI5280 forum for MINI Many Passes. I've mentioned it to a few people, but nobody seems to know about it.

I could probably take a Friday or a Monday off work, but I don't think I'd be able to swing more than that.

 

The weekend of the 25th would work using either Fri the 24th or Mon the 27th. The MINI Many Passes has been in the MINI5280 newsletter for the past two months and is listed on thier calendar. I'll add to the 5280 forum.

 

i think its a great idea, but 7-800 miles a day of mountain driving is a bit much for me, plus i have to much else going on this year to even think about taking more time off. perhaps make it a week long thing next year to spread it out, i like to be able to stop and look around once in awhile..
