My Nav and Amp install pictures

Although I would not completely recommmend going with Alpine for your dvd navigation unit, my systems sounds way better with the replacement of my HK amp. I had a 400 watt alpine amp installed where the previous HK amp was and it fit perfectly. A fibre cable connects the Alpine head unit with the amp. I was going to put in a sub, but the 6x9's in the back (once crossed over to a very low bass response and given enough power) sound incredibly good. I am shocked to get that much bass out of those stock speakers, but I will replace the front HK highs and mids soon.
One good thing about the alpine, was it comes with seperate removable Blackbird unit, which fits perfectly with my ipod under the steering column. So I can remove that unit and take it in someone else's car I guess. But there are not enough external buttons on my alpine radio, so the screen always has to be out in order to do anything other than volume control. If I could do it over again, I'd probably go with the Pioneer unit instead.

I would be carful about those rear speakers. I blew mine in the same fasion. Too much bass to the rear. I see that you have the HK... the Amp was ok with the odd Ohm of the HK speakers?

Yeah, I assumed the installer knew about the ohms, since he had installed that amp in another mini. But I've had it for two months now, and no problems...yet.

I'm looking at aftermarket optons on a MCSC I'm about to order. One thing I'm concerned about is the placement of the amp. I would like to keep it out of the boot if at all possible. I'm not experienced with amp installations, but it sure doesn't look like there is enough clearance under the seat. Yours is better still, filling the space where the factory amp goes. Can you tell us more info on this amp, like model and dimensions. Did you have any problems fitting or securing it in this location? Your upgrade looks great.

The Alpine amp is a PDX 4.100. The installer said this was a new amp from alpine which was smaller than the previous model and was able to fit nicely where the old HK was. He was right. Here is the website.

Anyone out there know for sure if the size of the cavity and opening for the amp is the same in both the hardtop and cabrio?

Nice to see the PDX fits in the factory amp location... I was thinking about that! I just got a couple of PDX's (ok, have 1, the other is on the way).... I was just going to put them in the battom of the hatch with a custom sub box... I wonder... will the PDX amp fit in that location to the left?

Also, what cup holder is that you have?
