Do i need to reset/put some code ?
Dear all,
if i want to disconnect my battery, to install an amplifier in my R56, will i need to reset or put some code?
i did change my front loudspeaker with the new pioneer/premier prs series and it is fantastic.
i am sure it will sound better than some other brands in the same or more price range.
thanks before,
winata

sigh...i began so worried after read that thread.
since if i do something wrong, it will be difficult for me to obtain any parts.
no mini dealer in my country, i got my mini from car importer and it's from hongkong edition.
so let's say if i disconnect the battery, then run a new set of cables (power, speaker and ground cables), then put an amp, a subwoofer then there should be no problem right?
the amplifier is the new zapco, it has the dsp processor to do the time alignment, crossover and etc.
zapco has a cable that convert from line level to balance one if i am not mistaken.
according to my friend, in this configuration i won;t mess up with the oem installation and zapco line conventer will make sure there'll be much better sound quality.
any suggestions before i jump into this?
thanks a looooot before,
winata

As long as you do the work correctly (ie connecting the correct wires to the correct sources) you should be okay. No radio code required.
Keeping the battery disconnecting during all the work is your safest bet. Make sure you have your seat harnesses plugged in at all times when the battery is connected. If not, you will set an airbag light that will need to be reset.
*If* you do have problems, I highly recommend getting a programming cable and getting the BMW GT1/DIS v57 software setup running on a computer so you can troubleshoot and reset modules. Or get a K-CAN GT1 setup from eBay.
