Replace cassette head unit - HK amp issue
I'm hoping to replace the Boost Cassette head unit in my 03 Mini Cooper S
I would like to put in an original Mini CD head unit. (with or without MP3 compatibility.)
However I have the Harmon Kardon Amp in the Back. Do I need a particular type of Mini head unit that does not have an amp included or do they all work?
Also I understand that some CD head units will play MP3 files.
Can anyone help with which model numbers I need to look for.
I dont want an aftermarket unit as there are issues with the Nav system and I'd like to keep the original look of the mini.
I am in the UK
Cheers
Paul

Nope - all MINI head units are the same (the Boost unit) whether you have H/K or not.
You'll have no problems swapping out the HU for one that plays CDs.
The ones that play MP3s were available mid year in the US. Not sure about the UK.
You can tell visually in that the volume **** is larger and has ridges, whereas the CD only version has a small, smooth ****.
