Static while using AUX input?

I've got an AUX input on my H/K system that I've been running my iPod through... I've noticed there's some static that seems to be associated with the vibration caused by lower notes. Is this typical of this setup?

To answer my own question, for the archive's sake:

Turns out the threaded ring around the plug for the stereo cable was loose, causing the cable to be held in place loosely without plugging in 100%. Simply re-tightening this ring seems to have solved the problem.

Curious how high you have the volume on the ipod? On my last car iPod in through the AUX I had to have the volume at 80-95% or so... As long as it wasn't 100% on the ipod it sounded great.

But if you solved the problem thats awsome!!
