X9002 Plug Location

Hello.

I am new to this site and love all the great advice everyone shares. I am hoping someone can help me with my question...hope it is a easy one.

I have a 2006 MINI Cooper S and am trying to install the Garmin Nuvi (MINI Branded) and am having the hardest time locating the X9002 plug. I found illustrations from various sources, but still cannot find it in my car. I have found 12, 10, 9, and 4 PIN connectors but not the 18 PIN connector.

Any information anyone can give me will be so greatly appreciated.

Are you sure X9002 is correct? The wiring diagrams (WDS) for R50/R53 don't list an X9002 connector. Where did you see the reference to X9002?

The R56 WDS shows an X9002 connector under the dash near the steering column, but you said your car is a 2006.

It was the MINI instructions I found from another on-line source. The pdf they have posted is from MINI for R56 but said that the instructions were the same for 2006.

I thought it sounded odd but the other site insisted that it was the same instructions. I can't find the Garmin Nuvi instructions for my model year anywhere and I was informed it was because it was the same as the R56.

Obviously, not correct.

I have spent 4+ hours today trying to hardwire the Garmin to my MINI and can't figure out where the appropriate connector is. I spent the entire time looking for the X9002 (under the impression it was the same). LoL

Would you happen to know the correct "connector" is for the 2006 MY?

Thanks for your quick response. I greatly appreciate it! =)

The Morristown MINI accessories website shows different part numbers for R53 and R56 kits. The Nav unit itself may be identical, but there are probably differences in the mounting hardware and wiring. I suggest that you ask your dealer for a copy of the installation instructions for R53.
