Audio recomendation

Hi All,,

new 02 Cooper S owner. learning lots, this site is awesome for info.

I have the original audio equipment. I would like recomendations for my IPOD. Without having to rip apart the car, what is the best option to be able to listen/charge my IPOD

thanks

Mike

Aux-in w/Belkin Tune dok is cheap and easy

Other options (DICE, OEM ipod interface) require removing the head unit, but that's not really difficult. They also cost a bit more - and in return you get varying levels of control of the ipod via the car controls.

I think you need a later model HU to use the OEM iPod interface. I have an '02 S as well and I missed the cut-off.

I'm debating going with an aftermarket unit that has iPod control and replace the speakers. So far I found one (this model ) that offers iPod control and can match our dash lights color for a decent price.

Edit: I found a second model, but it's exactly the same as the first one (different model numbers, same product?)

Oh - good point, I didn't notice the '02. I *think* '02s became Aux-in capable in 8/02.
Note that you can get OEM MINI head units for pretty cheap if that's the way you want to go.

Ya that's why I'm debating...the web has some recycling places that have some OEM mini HUs and I can keep it stock looking and still use my CD changer.

On the other hand, the JVC has great D/A converters, offering better compatibility for the same amount (or even cheaper) than an OEM HU.

Ah decisions...
