That seems really strange that the default option is connecting in the trunk!

Did you buy the extra Proclip mount part for the MINI that fits on the downtube? It's another $29.95 and I think it mates with the Proclip part that comes with the ICE-Link. I am just guessing based on a deep look at their website - I don't know firsthand yet because mine is on back-order.
And BTW, I did not specify "I'd rather not have my ipod in my trunk" in my order, so I am a little worried!

The proclip mount does require two pieces so that you don't have to tape the ipod mount to the dash. One piece holds the ipod and the other mounts to the downtube and holds the ipod holder in place. I have the setup and it is pretty nice a little bulky though. The part that mounts to the downtubes has doublesided tape on it, but I haven't applied it. It hasn't fallen off so I guess you really don't need to use the tape.

Okay, everyone...I got mine in and it works great! I posted a separate thread with lots of pictures and installation instructions. See this:
ICE-Link Install How-To With Pictures
By the way, I did not specify "head unit install" in my order (vs. "trunk install"...as discussed earlier in this thread). But as you can see in my how-to description, I guess I got the head-unit version by default because it worked!
Hope this helps.

Actually, to pick up on the "trunk" vs. "not in the trunk" discussion above, I'd been thinking that if I got this I'd go with the trunk mounting. I could be wrong, but basically it seems that a trunk mounting (plugging in basically where the CD changer would go) would be a WHOLE lot easier...and with the ability to have basic control over the iPod via the MSW controls (that's the whole point of the ICE-Link, no?), I don't see why I'd need to SEE the iPod while it's in use.
I saw Mark's excellent how-to pics, but I'd still rather avoid all of that dissassembly and cramming of wires. And even though the proclip thing seems to work well, I'd personally rather not have something sticking out from my downtube. I'd also like to avoid wires hanging out of my dash when the iPod's not plugged into them.
Just a thought.
